Need 2 more trapeza hosting families to fill a couple of dates

Matushka Patricia Whiteford

Dear Church Family,

Laura Ibanez just gave birth to a baby girl, she and her husband won't be able to host trapeza on August 8, 2021.

We also need one more family to host trapeza on August 15, 2021.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Matushka Patricia

Baby shower for the Northcutt family

Matushka Patricia Whiteford

Dear Church Family,

As you know Dean and Brittany Northcutt are expecting their first baby, unfortunately, Brittany has developed some complications and she is scheduled to be induced in mid-August. Therefore the Sisterhood's original plan to host a baby shower for them will not happen.

They don't have a lot of family and friends in Texas, so we are all they have.

The Sisterhood would like to invite you to participate in giving them gifts through their baby registry at Target:
Tgt.gifts/northcuttregistry

You may either give them the gifts in person in the next two Sundays or mail them directly to their home. Please consult our church directory for their address or email me at matushkagawei@...

The Northcutts really appreciate your love and support. May God bless you all.

In Christ,
The Sisterhood Council

Need a truck to haul donated furniture to church for our upcoming garage sale

Matushka Patricia Whiteford

Dear church family,

My mother's Chinese church friend offers free furniture to sell at our church garage sale.  One leather sofa, two bookshelves, one solid wood desk, one small computer table.

We need two strong men and someone who has a truck to haul them to the church by July 28th.

This person lives in the Acres Homes area and he is available after 3 p.m.

If you can help, please contact me directly. Thank you

In Christ,
Matushka Patricia

Prayers for the Departed

Fr. David Companik

Dear Parish Family,

Please pray for the newly reposed Martin Amora, whom I met through prison ministry and baptized in the hospital a few months ago. He reposed last night in the hospital after a long struggle with heart problems. His wife and I were with him. Thank God, he confessed and communed, and then reposed while prayers for the departure of the soul were offered.
We are arranging now for the funeral. It is likely to be Monday morning, possibly Tuesday, at St. Jonah's. I will update you all as I know more this afternoon.
His non-Orthodox family is destitute and were planning to cremate him, but at his last request they will proceed with an Orthodox funeral and burial. Please consider making a donation to St. Jonah's to help with funeral expenses, which will be in the range of $5,000 - $6,000. May God bless you for your charity toward the departed Martin and his wife and children!

Bible Study tonight

Archpriest John Whiteford

We should be concluding our study of Daniel tonight. Here is the login info

The next Bible Study on the book of Daniel will be on Tuesday, July 20th, at 7:00 p.m. at the parish hall. We will be discussing the remaining parts of the Daniel: Susanna, and Bel and the Dragon. For those who want to participate remotely, they can login at this link at that time: https://meet.google.com/fao-dinx-urv

Prayer Request

Archpriest John Whiteford

Please pray for John Gentry. He has a serious condition, and he will undergo a test in a couple of hours that is very crucial. Pray that those doing the tests will be guided by God, and that the results will be good. He will be undergoing extensive treatment in the coming months as well, and so will need ongoing prayer.

We need some volunteers, especially to help with some of the games we plan on. We also need two more tents for campers to practice setting up a tent. If somebody can share a tent or two for the camp week  that would be great.

St. Jonah Fine Arts Summer Day Camp will be held July 19- July 23rd (Mon.-Fr.), 9 am- 3pm.

There will be 4 groups, with the same age groups as the Sunday school: Toddlers (2-4), Children (5-7), Children (8-12), Teens (13+). Day camp activities include: morning prayers, icon painting, singing, games, crafts, Orthodox discussion for older kids, snack and lunch. Children from St. Jonah's and from other parishioners are welcomed to join. To enroll your children, please fill out a simple form: https://forms.gle/F2B5Mapo4rGASebQ8

Re: Summer Day Camp Help Needed

If tents are still needed I might have a couple that could be used. One is a standard 2 person and the other is a military issue single person tent that pops itself up. Would be nice to use in this heat but not much value if they’re just being thought to pitch tents and not actually camping in them.

Let me know if that would be useful
