Happy 2022 everybody!

Last year we had our first annual 'RDA champions of the year'
marathon. We had no idea what to expect from it, only hope was that it
will increase RDA activator/hunter activity on the air. Well - that
expectation was totally fulfilled cause there was clearly a lot more
going on, compared to 2020.

In 'activators' category there were two super dedicated, hard-core
activators who spent A LOT of time and gasoline to fight for the first
place. I'm super happy to announce 'RDA activator of 2021'. Ladies and
gentlemen - Oleg Poutkov RK3AW who was driving to 372 RDA's and had at
qsos with 100+ different hunters from all of them. This is totally
unbelievable number of RDA's per year.
As I said - there was a fierce competition between Oleg and Анатолий
(UB8S). Anatoly's task was somewhat harder, because driving distances
in UA9 are longer compared to UA3. Anatoly's final RDA count is 342
(30 less than RK3AW) which is also a truly fantastic result and I
believe Anatoly's driving distance was even bigger than Oleg's.

Even though we promised to produce a plaque only for winners, we
decided that Anatoly's commitment must be awarded with a nice plaque
as well, so we'll be producing activator plaques for both, first and
second place this year.

In hunters category - 2021 winner was Vasily, RA9AJ. Can you believe
it - he worked a staggering 2421 different RDA's last year! Honestly -
I NEVER anticipated that kind of number. This is a phenomenal
achievement and only God knows how many hours Vasily spent on the air
every day
We had to decide what to do in 2022. After hearing and analyzing
different feedback from various sources, we decided to repeat the 'RDA
marathon' in 2022. This year we'll create a separate category for
hunters - 'Foreign (non Russian) hunter'.

I guess many of you are thinking 'why not a plaque for top-3 of each
category?'. Answer is simple - I'm currently funding this out from my
own pocket and I need to draw a line somewhere.
So - we'll produce and ship good looking plaques for 2021 to RK3AW,
UB8S, RA9AJ soon.
Again - I hope you all will have a good 2022 and we hope to see in
"RDA marathon 2022"

Congratulation to real champions, both, activators and hunters.
It is very hard to "work from all RDA's and to work them all".

VERY true. I have MANY unconfirmed Russian stations via online or bureau. I imagine the Russian stations not confirmed online have limited access to internet.  Maybe encouragement to send logs to RA3R via email or to someone who can input logs into RDA for them.

Hi!

Today we passed 2500 RDAs confirmed in the year 2021.
(as seen on Regions page of mydx.eu)

Last RDAs confirmed are:

BU-04 by R0OAA
NN-44 by UB8S
RA-14 by RL6M
TV-28 by RK3AW
TV-45 by RK3AW

and more are on the way.

Good hunting, thanks to activators

Re: How to confirm districts with HQSL without RDA written

Hi Thierry,

as Romain said: when LotW team make RDA available in TQSL and display it in LotW, it will be mandatory.
So treat it as exception based on tradition. I have not looked at it, but I guess LotW accpetance predates both mydx.eu and hamlog.

On the other hand, mandatory rule on RDA entry in HAMLOG helps people pay more atention on entering it.

Back in 2018 I've run in International Grid Chase. 12 one month long contests, and only LotW confirmed QSOs with UL vere valid.
Some 5% do not have UL entry. Similar story. Quite an effort to tell people how to fill up location in TQSL.
Years later there is much less LotW entries without UL.

GE Iztok,

Thanks for sharing your point of view.
I am agree with you that "life is not perfect, errors are made, etc..." and all you wrote.
Rules are rules and I am not the one who made it. If I am not agree, I have just not to chase RDA, and the topic is closed
Anyway, and your wrote it well "Lotw for some reason are accepted without RDA" when HQSL are not, when cfmrda database could be use for both system. For me this is a big inconsistency. And I am not the only one thinking that. That's all.

Roman explained this few times.

Life is not perfect. HAMs are live people.
Some simply do not care. Some hate RDA program, because they have pileups form us hunters.
Some just put something (wrong RDA on hamlog). Some move around and do not update RDA.
Some use old QSL cards with wrong RDA. Some upload withoud /P, /M, /QRP, /0 etc.
(I got few hamlog HQSLs rejected with "operator put wrong RDA on hamlog" exxplanation).

WIth hundreds of russian hunters, inlcuding cfmrda challenge, I hope they will take care.

Sollution for me is simple: work another station from RDA. And another.

As a bonus: LOG uploading opens possibility to have RDA confirmed without QSO. LOGging error etc.
I found few QSOs at time/band when I was not QRV.
