They must have opened it up to verify the defect. The G67 just picked it up to move it down to Milwaukee.

Took a look at it. Traction motor #2. Some hwde has been removed in prep to change this thing out. Suppose Hulcher will show up sometime to lift it up. A continuing story. Too bad I'm working! :-(

They set it out around 19:00. I believe one of the traction motors was flagged by the 108 detector and the crew was told to set it out. The rear truck of the unit seemed to be radiating a bit of heat. It is DM&E 6362 - City of Lamberton. Perhaps we'll get an opportunity to see a traction motor swap-out!

So that's why 632 only had two of the mentioned engines (led by 6088) when it finally made it through the Milwaukee depot just as the last rays of light slipped away.

I had heard the Wisconsin dispatcher talking to them about their power problems. 6362 is one of DME's ex-Milwaukee Road units.

this what the problem is? Could be the ICE 6362, but the lettering is
so faded, I could not make it out.

WSOR Milwaukee sub update

Digger <mdigerness@...>

Spotted the rail crews laying the new rail, on the west side of Country Aire Road, in Germantown, around 4:30 this afternoon. Took me by surprise, so I did not have a camera handy. Might be able to get some pictures later in the week. They seem to be laying about 1 - 2 sections a day. At that rate they may not get done this year!

UP Derailment in St. Paul on BNSF pictures link

Stephen Whiting

Good Morning,

Here is a link to my pictures from Saturday's UP derailment of the MPRSS in St. Paul on the BNSF. This is the upload with descriptions added so if you are interested take a look.

The first few pictures are of the MPRSS coming up the grade into MN on the Altoona Sub. Usually we can catch the train at every cross but this train was moving fast and we never caught up to the front again as we followed it to MP 6.5 and then headed home.

My son and I heard about the derailment and went back into St. Paul to investigate, take pictures and video. This is the continuation of the pictures into the night.
