Re: New Technology

Success! I made up a very rough bracket to hold the gear change slider firmly in position to see how it worked without being able to move other than as it should. Changing was feather light and positive. The rig is not good enough for photographs as yet.

Normal derailleur levers will not be suitable as it requires a push/pull arrangement. I also think that the required cable movement will probably be more than a standard control may provide. I think I will be making up a single lever - forward to slow down and rearward to speed up. Shouldn't be too difficult but will have to wait until later.

Like termites, just because you can't see me doing anything, doesn't mean I am not doing anything.

I now have all components of my "Hilgo" transmission copy made up, tried in situ, and it works a treat. A little bit of tweaking regarding final positioning of all components and trying various spring loading of the front chain tensioner and it is done. Images available when I get it all finalised. I can then move on to the front suspension and steering. The end slowly draws near.

Re: Ride: Nov 29. Bendigo to Elmore and Return

Kevin Crockett - VK3CKC

Weather again. Not fancying battling a head wind on such a long ride. So, it's a ride to Lake Weeroona and Hargreaves Mall, Bendigo, instead, but one day ...

Re: Ride: Nov 23. Bendigo to Elmore and Return

Graeme Knight - VK3GRK

Yes that will be fine. I forgot about those sections along the track, but they would certainly be full of water!

Re: Ride: Nov 23. Bendigo to Elmore and Return

Kevin Crockett - VK3CKC

Well, the wet weather has put an end to the Elmore ride for tomorrow. There are two places that would be expected to be under water and the surface of the old road may also be a bit muddy in places.

Shall we look at it for next week?

Ride: Nov 23. Bendigo to Elmore and Return

Kevin Crockett - VK3CKC

Subject to weather, we are planning a ride, Starting from Lake Weeroona around 9.30am, to Elmore (about 45km), lunch at the Bakery, and return. Route will be: Bendigo Creek Trail to Epsom, Midland Hwy to Huntly, Old Murray Road to Elmore. A mainly flat ride.

Cycle space on new V/Line trains

Kevin Crockett - VK3CKC

The new V/Line train carriages have space for 14 more passengers - at the expense of a toilet, cycle space and other item storage. Currently, the carriage of bicycles is at the discretion of the Conductor and groups are simply not catered for and are advised to make alternative arrangements. This is simply not acceptible in the interests of encouraging more people to use cycles. The new carriages make train travel to Melbourne for a day of cycling even less likely.

Want to take a part in trying to reverse the situation? Visit the Bendigo railway station for the 12:07 train arrival on Tuesday Nov 13 and rub shoulders with a few cyclists from Bicycle Network who are coming to Bendigo to meet with Jacinta Allen, Minister of Transport, and some Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail members. Trevor and I will be riding to the Hargreaves St Mall for a cup of coffee and some public visibility an hour or two earlier if you want to join us. We will be then heading to the station for the train arrival.

Sorry I can't be there tomorrow, I've got something else on, but will look forward to the next one.

Hi Everyone

Tomorrow is the regular Bike Bendigo Community ride - starts 10am at Ewing Park on the Bendigo Creek Trail, proceeds to Spring Gully and returns to Wolsterncroft Park. Graeme and I should be there.

Stay in touch with these regular rides and other activities at: https://www.facebook.com/BikeBendigo/ and support their efforts in building more cycling access in and around Bendigo.

Re: New Technology

I added a photograph of my "Hilgo" mid drive incarnation, to the Trio Photo Album. On and off, it took a week to make the bracket and fit it. I still have to properly fit the rear wheel drive sprocket and a small fitting to firmly hold things in place.

Re: Planned Ride

A great couple of days with some very interesting "bits". Met two other Wodonga trikies - Wes and the "other" Lloyd.

Yes I get the reminder - what I need is an electric buzzer strapped to my ear that goes off at 6.55!

enjoy your riding - I rode to work today in sunshine - actual sunshine!

Re: [pedalradio] Monday night sked

Sorry, Paul

Graeme, Trevor, and me are in Albury, staying at Lloyd's place. It is part of a few days riding with a few from the Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail. We had been out riding all day and had gone in search of "eateries". It was 7.15pm when I remember the net and us "Bendigonians" were hopping into lamb roast, etc., but I was not in a position to do anything as the car cannot tune 80m. When we got back, Lloyd said he went on, called, and heard nothing.

'Tis better to have triand and lost, etc.

Do you get an auto reminder from this group every Monday?

The one time I remembered I turned on and tuned in and I couldn't hear a soul!

Nevermind, I will try to get again.
