No to be pedantic but…while the term ‘etching’ can refer to a chemical process it also has other meanings. The term ‘mechanical etching’ is common when talking about producing circuit boards as it associates what is typically done chemically to a mechanical method. ‘Engraving’ can also be done via a chemical process. Don’t you love how language is so non-specific?

 

I should have some of the new ‘etching’ bits in stock next week and will report on how they work w.r.t. the old design. Though the old design also makes for great engraving bits…

You mean Engraving not ETCHING.

Etching is a chemical process. Let's try to keep the terms straight.
