Astronomical equipment available
Rose was an active member of our club but as you can see below has had to give up observing.
Can we discuss her kind offer on Tuesday please?
I hope by now your knees are available for normal use and that life is treating you reasonably well.
After ten years of declining health, I am finally having to accept that I will not be able to observe seriously again and that it's time to pass my equipment on.
I would like my equipment to benefit the outreach endeavours of the Astronomy Club but I am unable to manage the rigours of selling it myself.
I have a proposal. If someone from the club were willing to come round to collect it, then perhaps the club could undertake to either use it or sell it in the outreach cause. (Pricing at club discretion.) With the exception of my 'main' telescope, all of it has been dismounted from my observatory. There is a list attached.
My main telescope is a Celestron 200 mm SCT that is currently mounted on a pier from which it will need to be unbolted. (It will probably need some muscles.) I no longer have the ability to do that so someone will need to come armed with spanners, etc. As far as I know, the optical tube is in good condition (although I can give no guarantee about spiders.) The electronic controls have succumbed to 10 years' neglect. It's probably not worth repairing the electronic mount and, in any case, much better controls are avalable these days. There is a tripod for this telescope, if needed.
Do you think the club might be interested? My main concern is to ensure the equipment gets used again rather than sitting im-used here. If it cannot be sold or used directly, then I suggest long term loans to club members.
My telephone number is 01908 313421. I am at home most of the time.
With best wishes, Rose Armson
