Thanks Geoff. Sounds similar spec to my WO 98mm f5.6.

I might give it a go with my 200mm f20 Maksutov.

Nights are a bit hazy at the moment.

Are you better yet?

Unsurprisingly, I have never seen it visually.

Have I found comet ATLAS?

Sheridan Williams

Edited

Struggled to find C/2019 Y4 ATLAS last night. Entered the RA/Dec and got the the attached picture number 1. Seems very faint for something that's supposed to be magnitude 8.

While in the vicinity I thought I'd look at M81 and M82, unfortunately I wasn't using my big scope but still pleased with the result of a single (non-stacked) image.

Used my William Optics 98mm f/5.6

Comet was 10s at ISO3200 with CLS filter as near Milton Keynes glare

M81/M82 was 20s at ISO6400 with CLS filter.

Nice pic.

Webcast presentation

Fire and Ice - the Volcanic worlds of the solar system - part 2
Saturday 4th April 2020
Start time : 16:00

Speaker : Paul Fellows

Fire and Ice - the Volcanic Worlds of the Solar System - part 2"

This talk looks at how volcanoes are such and important feature of the worlds within our solar system and how they are a pointer to where we may one day discover life beyond the Earth.

Our talks are aimed at the beginner level and can be enjoyed by all ages and levels of experience.

There will be no maths or complicated scientific jargon to get over - and some great pictures.

Part one covered the worlds of the inner solar system, and of course Part two picks up from where part one leaves off and cover the outer solar system before bringing everything right back to the origin of life on Earth.
