Mostly I just adjust brightness and contrast for my taste, and crop when necessary.

This one is much better and has much better software than the SCSI scanner I had many years ago. Yes, I expected the graininess from the Ektachrome 125 and 400 slides. However, I also have some Kodach

Richardson and other Thoughts on 60 ish. Boating slides
I use an Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner. it has carriers for several size negatives and slides. Does a pretty good job, though the resolution is not as good as I had hoped. Their scratch-removing

On the floorboards of my Adirondack Guideboat, I decided gloss varnish would be too slippery, so I tried the satin varnish. I read all the info about degradation, so put 2 coats of gloss varnish down

wiper recommendation?
A couple years ago I started using Aquapel on my cars' windshields. Same concept as Rain-X, works as well, lasts a bit longer, and easier to apply IMO.

Race to Alaska gets scary!
I've sailed a C-Lark. I wouldn't even THINK of trying the R2AK in one! I wouldn't even try the PT-Victoria leg in anything predicting more than 15 kt or 4' seas...

messing about in boats magazine
Yes, Bob Hicks announced in the current (May/June) issue that it is the last one. Apparently costs are rising too fast to sustain it.

Trailex SUT250. I have one that holds my Adirondack Guideboat and my kayak. Can be configured to hold more... Trailex trailers are aluminum, lightweight, and versatile. Only downsides are cost and ass

30# thrust MIGHT be enough, in calm water and wind. I'd go for 40-50# thrust, if you think you might need it to fight upwind to get home...

I used a MinnKota 42# thrust trolling motor for my 21' SeaPearl (~1500-2000# loaded). It was plenty for getting into and out of the harbor, or for a couple hours of cruising at 2 kt. A Kipawa propelle

Lodgings in Newpor? (was: tDepoe Bay Wooden Boat Show in Toledo)
There's a LaQuinta and one other next to the Deschutes brew pub on the south side of the river. I've stayed in both.
