Re: Looking for RF SHIELDING for a depth finder - trying this First
Hi Cal - Tell us a bit more. What is the depth sounder powered from? Is the motor power entirely separate? Do they share a common ground? If so, at how many paces? Bob

Cathlamet fall messabout
Hi group,
Now that John has moved the fall messabout to the last weekend of this month, I guess I should post a little info about what I envision it to be.
First off, I checked with the marina folks

Weather control
I have discovered part of the secret to weather control on the Oregon coast.
I can now summon wind, in copious amounts carrying an equally copious amount and variety of dead leaves,
AND can produce

Hi Cal,
Electrical noise issues are more frequently grounding deficiencies rather than the cabling. Your depth sounder transducer cable should be shielded to prevent noise impression on the signal,

Looking for RF SHIELDING for a depth finder - trying this First
Just got some adhesive tape-like stuff. It's called MWRF conductive tape, and is used to stop RF noise. It shields the 40 - 100db, ( 10MHz - 3GHz ) wavelengths from interference. That might help

Re: More new Motor stuff
The electric motors I have seen all look cloned, made in China of course. We in the US probably would have a tough time actually making what we consume, with our little bitty market share, compared

Coots Thursday Lunch
I'll be in Port Townsend this Thursday. At lunch time I'll be bobbing around in the bay waiting to be let into the Point Hudson marina and waiting to be shown to Lazy Jack's home for the weekend.

Re: Fern Ridge Fun for Coots Not Going to Port Townsend
Make sure you have something ready for Fern Ridge by the Spring Messabout, at least. The weekend before Memorial Day. I hope it works out that we can have the Triton YC Dinghy Dash end there again

I would tend to agree. Familiarity with such may not happen for me this year. I really don't have anything completely ready to take over there right now.

Re: More new Motor stuff
A motor doesn't care where the prop shaft is, end wise it's just a spinning rod. However on planes it hits By design and with luck, only clean air. The motors in pod housings have to shove aside

Re: More new Motor stuff
For over 30 years electric pod motors, like giant trolling motors, have been powering icebreakers, freighters and, mostly, cruise ships, in salt water. Except for the much publicized bearing troubles

Sounds like a hoot. But, is the sailing before or after the cocktail party?
I've actually never been on Fern Ridge.

My minn kota 40 did just fine for five boats or more. Lots of all kinds of waters and never a complaint for over 1o + years. The newport looks to be even better, but they all need a plastic power

Not "New" but with a short recap.
OK, the Newport motor is installed, a dedicated battery pack of 2 marine equipment type all hooked up. Different batt. connectors, high versatility, multiple non soldered openings so you can charge
