Re: If you were looking for a new outboard
Dirt - I can certainly sympathize with the desire for a neutral, and a reverse,
But that conflicts a bit with the appropriate size for that boat. Pat had a 4 horse 2-stroke, right? Larger than Atkin

Honda if you can bear the price but Yamaha beats all for durability. IMHO never Mercury.
Where I lived in Baja, Yamaha was prevalent. The Pangeros used them very very hard. And we fished with them in

Re: Scandal
Glad Scandal has a new home, and glad that trailer held up ok for the trip. The way the wheels looked, I wasn't sure it would be a sure thing.

If you were looking for a new outboard
What would you buy brand wise.
For Scandal I would like to put a new outboard on. 4 stroke, 4-6hp.
Lots of options out there and the pricing is reasonable for a new engine. Granted if a used on e

Scandal
Well Scandal made the trip from middle of the woods Molalla/Colton over to the drier side of the state today.
Kay had a bunch of boat gear and more boats that need to migrate off the property. Oars,

Also, watch the little USB connectors. In the past the USB micro B was common on Android phones and tablets but now, USB C is running around. It looks similar but isn't. Get OTG Host adapters

Re: NMEA (was: a few Android apps I use)
This is complicated.
The AIS (or GPS) with NMEA0183 only sends out a stream of sentences. You want those sentences to get to a program, like OpenCPN, as they will be processed into useful stuff, like

NMEA (was: a few Android apps I use)
Bob L is our NMEA wizard. Like Dan, he set up the AIS receiver in Wave Guide the hard way and, IIRC, has a bunch of other stuff hooked up together using NMEA. But he's using an old laptop or netbook

4 Spirits was where it is today when we found them a while back. I had no idea it used to be in the post-apocalyptic environs of Adair Village. Well, now you know where to find us next time.

Hello folks,
While waiting for our pizza at Toledo one night, John K. and I got to talking about a couple of Android apps that I knew about. I promised him some names once I got home, and I figured
