Don't forget the canoe trip that really went bad in "Deliverance" (1972). (The book was adequately scary, also).  As a bonus, you get Dueling Banjos.

When I was a kid, I went to see "Down to the Sea in Ships," (Richard Widmark and Lionel Barrymore, 1949) and remember thinking how good it was to be on land. There is a lot of action in the movie.
