Oh yes, I am coming. Will I be seeing a new boat from Colton? If we have to pay for a site, so be it. It would be nice if the grounds are closed and we had to boat in. I might not make it till
saturday morning. Maybe someone can grab a good spot...if paying is necessary, I can chip in my fair share.
I can get bait from Tony's on friday. I have two traps.

Pat,
I believe that you need a Northwest forest pass. With that said
if you pay for a site at all of the Forest service campgrounds and do not park your launch rig at the boat ramp you do not need a pass, well at least in dirtland. The nice thing about the NW pass is that it is good for one year from the date that you purchase it. Not just until the end of the year.

If I remember right and this is the same weekend we went as last year,
the campground was Officially Closed, but not locked up (even the rest
rooms weren't looked.)
We got there Friday afternoon and grabbed the sight across the
drive that was Not directly on the water, but the others you guys are
talking about were available.
I'm not sure about whether we had to pay a Fee for that spot or
give it to somebody else to pay or What.
Anybody Else remember Paying and Money To Anybody for Camping?
I think it is First Come, First Gets the spots now.
Other (Non-Coot)folks Did start arriving late afternoon/evening
and grabbed some of the other Nicer, Big, Waterfront Spots, So Better get
there Relativity early on Friday to Get The Spots you Want.
I think We Need to buy the Pass to use the Ramp though.
The Ramps stay open all year, even when there isn't any water and you
can't get there because of the Snow.
Does anybody have one of those Permits from last year ?
If so, could you post What Kind it is and any Phone number that might
be listed so I can get one.
I'd like to see exactly What Pass/Permit it is and buy mine down here
in the Valley.
They were available at the little Ranger Station on the way in,
but I
don't want to drive all that way and Not be able to get one.
You guys will be launching and moving your rigs back to the campground
(?)but we will be camping on the PK so will leave our rig in the boat
launch parking area. Just the right spot to get a ticket if we Don't
have the appropirate Permit.
I want to be "Legal".
But,
I hate all this "Permit Stuff". We already Pay for all those
places with our Taxes, and now they want us to pay again.
It Is all part of the Plan to "Privatize" all Camp Grounds and these
"User Fees" are just to get people used to Having To Pay every
time they go Anywhere, Anymore.
Won't Be Too Long 'till we'll be pay "Mickey" to use Our "Public" parks.
It's already happened in many of the larger National Park.
But, I'm not going to try to fight it when I just want to Have
Fun. I'll Pays My Money and Buy the Permit, If I can figure out Which
Permit to Buy.
We are planning to get there sometime Friday afternoon, and as I said,
we'll be staying on the PK so won't need a Camp Spot.
We loaned one of out Crawdad Traps to a friend so will only have Two.
Anybody Else have some ?
Does Anybody go through or Near Oregon City on a regular basis.
The Best Crawdad Bait is Real Fish.
You can get it cheap or Free from "Tony's Fish Market" in Oregon City.
All their carcases and guts.
But you need to get there early mornings as that's when the clean fish
and throw it out by afternoon.
If Anybody Does go by there and could pick up some bait, might be good
to call Tony's and arrange to pick up a Big Bag of "Bait"
Other "Stuff" will work, but Real Fish is The Killer Bait and Will
Guarantee Lots O' Dads.
We use to fish for Shad in the Spring and keep lots of Shad and
the Occasional Salmon or Steelhead, Head and carcases frozen in our
freezer, just for Fall Timothy Lake Crawdad Bait, but don't have
a big
freezer anymore, so can't do that now.
See you All There
Gonna
Have Fun

I looked on the campground availability list and nothing is available.
I assume that means that the campground is closed for the
weekend we
are scheduled. That means no camp fees and boat in only.
Anyone
interested? I personally like the fact that we may be the only ones
there. I cant make it until late friday evening. Can anyone
get there
earlier and get a campground staked out? Last year we liked
the one
that was a family unit right next to the lake...17 or 18 at
Pine Creek.
