Community Input: Bandwiths

Reading through the posts it seems to me that the question of supported bandwiths seems to be a major issue. I would like to improve documentation by creating some table - but I need input! Hence I would like to ask the community to reply to this topic providing the following information: - Used SDR: <DummySDR> - Working Bandwiths: <1.1Ms> - Used Computer System / Version: <Raspberry 3+> - Used decoders: <APRS,FT8> Please make sure these bandwiths are actually working (voice sounds normal, digital decoders such as FT8 are decoding something ...) It is perfectly possible to run for example a SDRPlay at a bandwith which is unsuitable -> no decodes but not also no error. Of course the selected bandwith should also not overload the CPU ;-) Thanks in advance & 73 Birk [DB3DE]

Poll: Should the status display be shown by default?
15 messages
#poll-notice
A new poll has been created: Alright, let's try something new today. One of the elements of the OpenWebRX receiver client is the so-called "status panel", which is a number of small progress bars at the bottom left of the receiver that show some more or less interesting vitals about the receiver, network connection and audio playback system. (I'd love to add a screenshot at this point, but this option doesn't exist on polls.) The panel can be toggled using the "Status" icon in the header. The request I've been receiving is that this status panel should not be displayed by default, but instead be hidden. I have previously stated that I don't really have a personal preference (as long as the option to show it on demand stays intact for debugging purposes), and that I would simply set this to whatever the majority of the community prefers. This poll is to determine what would be the preferred default state of the status panel: shown or hidden. Relevant links: https://github.com/jketterl/openwebrx/issues/239 https://groups.io/g/openwebrx/topic/91699945#5240 https://groups.io/g/openwebrx/message/3312 Please note: I'm currently explicitly excluding the "log" panel from this poll. This is mainly because it already has a hiding behavior (it only shows for the first two sections) and I would like to keep this poll simple (considering this is the first time a poll is being used). If this experiment goes well, we can certainly have a follow-up poll about the preferred behavior of the log panel. I hope that we can get a somewhat objective opinion this way. If this works, we can certainly have more polls on other things in the future, so please take the time to participate. 1. Show the status panel by default 2. Hide the status panel by default 3. OpenWebRX 1.2.0 released!
3 messages
#release
Hello dear radio enthusiasts, today we'd like to announce the availability of the new version 1.2.0 of OpenWebRX, your software defined radio server. This release brings fundamental changes to the internal structure of the demodulation process, and while those changes don't provide a lot of new features, they improve the overall performance of OpenWebRX quite a bit. Along with that, this version introduces a preliminary display of callsigns for the M17 mode, the ability to decode DMR talker alias information if the radioid.net database is not available / disabled, and also fixes a number of bugs. The release is now available via the usual upgrade and download channels, please see the upgrade documentation for more information. Additional notes surrounding this release: The package repositories have been moved forward to Debian Bullseye and Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish respectively, and there will be no OpenWebRX packages of this release for older versions of these distributions. Please consider upgrading your OS accordingly, the process should be documented by the distribution. Please update the distribution codename for the OpenWebRX repository in the apt sources accordingly if you perform a distribution upgrade. The Raspberry Pi image has been updated to the latest changes for the Raspberry Pi OS distribution. The most notable change is that the default user "pi" no longer exists. Please check the relevant blog post here, in particular if you wish to perform headless installations. The version of WSJT-X contained in the Raspberry Pi image has been downgraded to 2.3 since the official website has not made packages for Debian Bullseye available yet. The Debian hams team seems to be working on making a newer version available via the backports repository, but it is not available either as of writing this. Installations done according to the manual installation guide will need to add new components. Please check the updated guide in the OpenWebRX wiki. Best regards and vy 73s Jakob DD5JFK P.S. As usual, this topic will be pinned and locked due to it being a "special notice" that does not follow normal E-Mail settings that individual group members have set up. This measure is not intended to discourage discussion in any way though, feel free to open new topics about whatever feedback or questions you may have.
