Updating to Windows 10

Will I have an issue with my 11000 if I go from windows 10 to 11?  I do not have digitizer.

Forgot to say I’ve also managed to put Hatch 3 onto the laptop, it’s a bit slow but it does work providing no other programs are open so no email or Facebook, etc., I only use the laptop when I go away so it’s not essential, and I just make sure windows is updated before I go away.

Oy! The possibilities for trouble with Windows are endless, but with regard to sewing software the biggest risk would be with digitizing software. If you have the Janome Digitizer prior to V5 (uses a plug-in dongle) you'll need a new HASP driver. If you are using Artistic Digitizer or MBX V5 or V5.5, sign out of the software before updating.

Another possible issue is with the 11000. If you are connecting to it via a USB cable, then your Windows 7 is probably 32 bit. Windows 10 will be 64 bit, and there is no 64-bit driver for the 11000. You will have to use a USB stick, which will still work on Windows 10.

I would strongly recommend making a full backup copy of the hard drive before updating. This may be helpful: https://www.howtogeek.com/4241/how-to-create-a-system-image-in-windows-7/
You'll need an external hard drive to do that, and it must be at least as big as the hard drive in your computer. The whole process may take a while. You may want to start it before going to bed and letting it run all night. Plan to have a few hours to devote to the update, partly because you may have to download new drivers for some of the things you use.
