The only solution to fix your needle threader is to take it into your dealer and have them check it. You should have the latest needle threader unless you got a 15000 V2 machine that was “upgraded” when you purchased it. I don’t think they replaced my needle threader when I got my upgrade, because it worked perfectly for the technician when he did the check up on the machine. I had issues with the needle threader, but he never did.- go figure. I did learn though that it is important to use Janome needles and #14’s work best (red tip) and the blue tip (#11’s) do most of the time. Even though Janome states somewhere in the instruction manual that you shouldn’t use anything that is less than a #12. Schmetz needles sometimes work, but they have a slightly different placement of the hole for the thread. I believe that might have been my problem as I had many Schmetz needles that I was using when I first got the 15000 back in 2013 and still have many to use up, but I’m very careful when I use those. I don’t have problems with any Janome needle that is a #11 or bigger.

It could be the hook in the threader is bent. It sometimes wont thread on mine, usually in embroidery, if a thread has broken, i thread manually for a couple of changes and then it threads again, probably because its gone back to the correct position, the
thread break having pulled it over.
Ive always used SCHMETZ mictortex, they have a bigger eye, sharper point, and they stitch really well. I don’t like Klasse either not sure why but i dont think the stitch is as good. I use the microtex for embroidery too.

There have been a lot of discussions on this in the past. Here are a couple of the tips that have come out of these and that I have gotten from my own dealer.
Be sure and lock the machine before using the threading button. This gets the foot out of the way but opens the tension discs for threading. You may also want to do a needle down/up cycle before locking it to make sure the needle is in the right position.
Finally, the threader is not really designed to work with smaller needles. It is optimized for a red/purple tip, but mine usually works ok with a blue tip or size 11 top stitch. But if you are using anything smaller than a blue tip (size 9 or 10), the threader
will not work well and may get bent out of alignment. Another aspect of the needle question is that Janome uses Organ needles when they design the machine. So if yours is tightly built to the design specs, it may not like other brands of needles. I have
had a lot of trouble with Klasse and less but some issues with Schmetz needles. Organ makes the needles sold under the Janome and Superior brand.
Hope this is helpful.

Re the update:
We will see the version we have for our 15000 machine when we turn the machine on and see it on the bottom right corner of the opening screen.
The linked update is to v 2.1 for the machine, and v1.2 for Horizon Link Suite.
So please note that the update is not for the latest update/upgrade to the Quiltmaker Edition, which is v3.
The only way to get that update for the machine itself is through a Janome dealer and must be purchased.
Because the 15000 is a retired machine some dealers may not be helpful with this upgrade process anymore if you don't already have it.
That upgrade among other things, improved the needle threader, gave the option for the HP foot and plate, and some additional decorative stitches.
The update to HLS was done through one of two ways:
The dealer would notify Janome that the customer had paid for the Upgrade and Janome would email a link to the customer to update their program.
Some dealers put the updated program onto a USB and would offer to update the customer's computer, especially if they weren't real computer savvy.
IF a machine was purchased that was already the Quiltmaker edition the CD for HLS was the updated most recent version.
There have been no updates to the HLS since that time.
If you have HLS for either the original Quiltmaker or an upgraded program, the versions should be:
- Embroidery Link Tool v.1.3
- AcuFil Tool v1.3
- Pattern Combo Tool v1.3
- Stitch Composer v1.1

Thank you for those tips. I have been doing just as you stated, I do use organ needles , exclusively , with the exception of the ones that came with my machine. I have a very handy husband who has a great magnification headlamp and will get him to try to see what he can . If it persists I will ask my dealer to pay particular attention to the needle threader at the next servicing. I appreciate this group very much.
