Embroidery thread
Carole O'Mara
I have 15000 Quilt Maker. I would like to do a purchased embroidery design. Since the embroidered project will be on a single piece of fabric (cotton dish towel) the embroidery will show on the back side. Should I use same color thread top and bobbin, giving the look on the back same as on front? I'm concerned how the back will look if I use white embroidery bobbin thread. Are there any special settings to keep the white bobbin thread from being pulled to the front or top thread being pulled to back?
Thanks for any suggestions. Carole |

I would use the same thread top and bottom when the design is viewed both sides. Or I use variegated thread that reflects the colours of a multiple colour design so I don’t need to change the bobbin at every colour change. If it’s a towelling dish cloth or has a pile I would use water soluble film on top to prevent the pile popping through the stitches.

Yes, same color thread on both sides is the safe way.

Definitely go with matching thread in the bobbin if you want both sides to be pretty. That said, you will still end up with a few knots and tread tails on the back side, unless you turn off the cut commands and do a one-thread stop to pull of the tails and then knot and bury them by hand. When I use regular embroidery thread in the bobbin, I use the red bobbin case.

Another option is to use the same color of the towel in the bobbin.

That is what I do match the booking thread to the color of the item I am embroidering on. So designs do not look all that good in reverse on the back. Especially if they have words in them. Linda |
