For my embroidery machines I use 16mb (yes mb) usb. You can get a lot on one and the machines read them quickly. You can find them on Amazon. \ On Wed, Nov 23, 2022 at 10:17 AM Cheryl Paul <capaul@...> wrote: Janet, |

Janet,
I found when I still had my 11000 that if I used the Compact flash Cards, the design loaded up really quickly, BUT with a USB they were painfully slow, so I hardly ever bothered with the USB’s at all. Another thing I learned years ago, was that the 11000 likes smaller memory USB’s and nothing over 2GB. That is a problem these days as the smaller memory devices are hard to find. Try to use your older ones for as long as you can as they will probably work better. I’m not a computer tech by any means, but I’ve learned things by trial and error. Oh, I gave my 11000 to my daughter, so it is still working fine as far as I know. Kids take up her time, so I don’t think the machine is getting worn out by any means. Cheryl - Saskatoon |

‘.jjf’ file format…??? Is it misspelled…did you try changing the extension from .jjf to.JEF by any chance? Very curious. Worst that would happen is you’d need to change the ext back. 😁 I only have ever heard of one (I think) software that uses a .jjf extension and it’s an .swf video converter…not embroidery…not long arm quilting panto… Typos courtesy of autocorrect.

Janet- If the designs are in Jef format and can't be seen on the machine (but they can on your computer) they may not be "oriented" the correct direction and that for the hoop you want to use. That would keep the machine from seeing them. Or if even 1 stitch is outside the hoop"s stitching area (smaller than the size of the hoop) the designs won't show up. You might need to open them in software and re-center the designs or shrink them just a tad so they will fit and can be seen. Tracy in Nashville, TN Martha Pullen Licensed Educator |

Duh! I just realized this morning that the problem I was having ( and wasted so much time on )was that my designs came in jjf instead of jef. I have contacted the company to see if they will resend. Feeling extremely dumb this morning!

My machine is an 11000 and know it worked fine earlier and will still do the job with former usbs that I have transferred from my computer. I just can’t figure out why the designs I transferred today can’t be read by the machine. I tried loading on one with other designs and on 2 new ones after formatting. Maybe I will try transferring to an old compact flash card. The designs are JEF and a designer that I’ve used before many times. These absolutely will not work on Janome machines. The strange format confuses the machine and it may keep spinning the hourglass trying to figure out the drive. |

Another possibility is the actual format of the designs. If they are not in correct JEF format, the machine may have trouble with them. If they are designs you’ve used before, or even from a designer you’ve used before, it’s probably not the designs. If a design is too big to fit the hoop the machine will normally reject it, but not spin the hourglass. So again, it’s not likely that. Those are the best guesses I can make from the information provided. |

Just an idea-- use the USB stick which you know does work, to transfer the desired file (which wouldn't work on the other USB). Perhaps there is something wrong with the USB stick, not the design.

I don’t normally have an issue transferring a design from computer to an usb. Until today! They transfer to usb okay but the machine will not read. I tried 2 different usbs and even formatted a new 1gb one. Other usb that I have work okay, in fact I did a design earlier today with one. Designs show up on computer and the emb and emf folders show on machine but the Hourglass just keeps going. Any ideas? I’m hoping when I turn back on tomorrow, all will work but It’s probably wishful thinking.
