I am so happy to report my dealer is making things right for me. They no longer have the 15000 that I traded in but they do have another that was traded in they will give me. Of course I’d rather have mine, but at this point I am happy to get a 15000 back.
My dealer sells another brand, so I will do my research, do plenty of testing, and read reviews before making any other purchase. My dealer was gracious enough to say they just want to do whatever makes me happy – whether that is purchasing a different brand or giving me a refund. My dealer rocks!

I’m so sorry. That’s terrible that you have received two ’bad’ machines when you were looking forward to a new machine that was as advertised…I am just realizing you probably are talking about a CM17, which really is heart breaking. I really do hope that they
get it sorted out and quickly. Even one customer so unhappy is detrimental to their business.

Glad left eye is working again. Just dropped everything off at my dealer and told them I want a refund. Dealer will call Janome Monday. I traded my 15000 for the cm17 and don't believe my dealer has any left so that will be interesting working out those
details. Praying dealer/Janome makes this right and hoping i can get a 15000 again.

When I worked in the high tech manufacturing industry, we called that "infant mortality" in analysis...meaning a machine that either fails the final quality tests, or passes the tests but fails "out of the box" or soon thereafter when still
new in use.
Definitely let the dealer you purchased that machine from know that it is "not working correctly out of the box" and the sooner the better...it could be there were machines manufactured with a bad lot of a component, too, and maybe you got
one. If that's the case, they will definitely want to know...there'll be rework they'll need to do. I cannot imagine that a zigzag stitch was NOT part of a final QC check...we didn't manufacture sewing machines but Brother manufactured mechs from our engineering
artwork for us for our products...LOL

Pam,
If I have typo’s here I’ll excuse it with - “I had cataract surgery this morning and can’t see very well yet. Can’t believe that I went into the operating room at just after 10 am and was walking out before 20 after 10. Isn’t that amazing? All seems well and there is little to NO pain involved at this point - I’m sure the freezing is almost all out. I have the Right eye done 3 weeks from today and then I should be good to go. I didn’t op for any corrective stuff just the standard that everyone gets on our medical care plan. The extras are very expensive and my Ophthamologist didn’t really encourage me at all. He said sometimes it works great but other times not so much.

So glad to hear your surgery went well.
I was sewing on a medium weight cotton (no batting) for my testing. I have spent time waiting paitiently for a fix and I even worked with a Janome educator testing the first machine before they finally agreed to replace it.
The new replacement machine is worse – I did not list every issue. It has been 6 months since I made my original purchase and at this point I am disappointed, angry, and over this machine.
I am about to go into a rant now so I will stop here with now I am working with my dealer to make me whole and praying that does not became a fight.

Pam,
I think you need to talk to your dealer. Were you sewing the zig zag’s on quilt batting - it shouldn’t be a problem but now never knows what might create issues in stitching. Check with very stable fabric, knits and whatever else you sew on to make your projects. Do talk to your dealer before you haul the machine to them. I’m not sure if you can fix it yourself, but I’d try. Now having said that we paid a fortune for these machines and we don’t want to “muck” them up either by doing to much playing for a “fix up”. Check out some of your decorative stitches to see if you can find any other things that aren’t what you think they should be - the dealer might as well know ALL that you can tell them, so that they can take this to Janome if need be. If I have typo’s here I’ll excuse it with - “I had cataract surgery this morning and can’t see very well yet. Thanks for checking. I am attaching pictures but quite honestly I believe there is an issue with the machine. The blue lines in the picture indicate the problems.

Hi Pam,

Cheryl Paul
Hi Pam,
After reading the problems that you are having, I had to check my machine to see if my machine would sew and beautiful zig zag and it does. I just sewed one on a piece of flannel that was right under my nose and tried a “default” #9 Utility zig zag, sewed about an inch and widened it to about 6.0 and continued sewing another few inches. There were absolutely NO skipped stitches and it looked good on both sides. I’ve attached a file where I’ve sewed 2 types of fabric. One is the flannel I mentioned already and the other is a piece of twill that came from pants that I shortened. The long row was on the fold and it isn’t as good in places as the one on the left and this fabric was just a single layer with NO stabilizer. The widest zig zag shows a bit of the bobbin thread coming to the top, but remember this is a test stitch out and I didn’t try any adjustments at all other that width and length. The part that looks straight was set at 0, so there isn’t a requirement for the needle to move to the side. I think it looks pretty good considering that I was only playing to see what results I’d get. Can we see what your machine is doing? I do expect to get different results if I were to sew elastic - I really don’t like swing elastic on any machine as it had bands of rubber or something that stretches and needle don’t usually like it and they don’t like the needle penetrating it either. Anyone seen the below issue on any of their Janome machines.
Problem Stitch 9 (middle zigzag) - it sews several zigzags then several straight stiches repeatedly. There are other zigzag stitches that are problematic, but some stitch fine.
This is on the CM17. Will be taking it to the dealer, but wanted to know if anyone had this issue and was it an easy fix.
