The answer is yes, but maybe no. Why? Because the width of the stitch you use must allow for the width/the spacing of the twin needle as it swings back & forth creating the decorative stitch.
For example if the twin needle is a 2.0 needle, subtract 2.0 from 9.0 which is the maximum width of the hole in the needle plate. Then adjust the decorative stitch accordingly.
If the twin needle is a Hemstitch Wing Twin needle you will have to be even more cautious because the Wings of the needle are wider than a normal needle.
If the twin needle is a really wide spacing (for example a 6.0 needle) it will also limit how wide of a decorative stitch you can choose.
Or, more simply you can turn on the Twin Needle guard on the machine and that will automatically limit how wide your decorative stich can be.
However, I rarely use the Twin Needle function because it automatically limits how wide the stitch can be (it limits it to 3.0mm) because the machine doesn't know how wide the actual twin needle space is.
But this is one of those cases when we can be smarter than our very smart machine!

If you purchase an 8mm twin needle, you won’t be able to do any stitch but a straight stitch as there won’t be room for the needle to swing.  The whole width is 9mm, so you really need to be careful with twin needles or you could damage the needle plate and maybe something else on the machine besides breaking the needle.  However, straight stitching, with  nice threads can make stitching something interesting too, even if it isn’t a fancy stitch.
