New User software question
favymtz
The link is only for the 15000, Horizon Link Suite. But it can be used in all functions for a 12000 except sending and receiving designs.

Just catching up on these responses. So is the link you posted just for the 15000? Or is this good for the 12000?

Judy, It’s great that you got your Horizon Link Suite on to your computer so that you can use it to full capacity. I sold my 15000 to a dear friend and I couldn’t find my CD anywhere and I look exactly in the drawer it was in the last time I was rummaging through that spot. I eventually found it exactly in that same drawer after taking out all the CD’s and DVD’s and going through them one by one - it was in the very last row when I was just about thinking I was defeated.
Janome really needs to boost up their support line, not everyone like to find their videos and answers on Facebook. One can get an answer and very quickly on any of the Janome Facebook Groups and there are quite a few as I have joined them out of need. I really do not like that platform at all, but I know that I’ll always get an answer there and sometimes even have an answer for someone. The Janome Educators do a lot of video training there and they are quite short, so not to much information given in at one time - it gives one a time to actually absorb what is being taught. We’ve all been to a one day seminar on our machines and go home with just a few things that we really understand, so I do “sort of” understand why things are going this way. COVID also made some of this necessary as we weren’t allowed to go anywhere or do anything for about 2 years. I’m just only starting to really get myself going again. I got to see the new Janome Continental M17 this week - in a neighbouring city as I passed through to my sister’s, and then my dealers came in as well. My machine will be shipped after she gets her formal training from Janome on August 16. It is an awesome machine - now that I’ve seen it, I’m happy I getting one. It doesn’t look to be a complicated machine, but the size is intimidating as it takes up a lot of space. The hoops are different and it took me a bit to get one to attach at my dealer's yesterday. It sews and embroiders so quietly and the stitch quality is impeccable. There are more decorative stitches that you can imagine and we have the software to make MORE. I’ll keep you posted on this fabulous new machine once I have it in my sewing room. It’ll be my favourite and I have many favourites already in that room. Cheryl - Saskatoon |

I replied from my phone but it somehow seems to NOT reply to the group...dunno where replies go...LOL. So, I apologize for repeating myself, but...
Please note that "Horizon Link Suite" is NOT the same software (called "Horizon Link" I believe) that came with the 12000, and it is NOT for the 12000...it is FOR the 15000. Additionally, the software version referenced at that link (v.1.31) is TO UPGRADE the version of "Horizon Link Suite" (that came with the 15000) on the PC, and is to be used FOR the Janome 15000 machine AFTER the 15000 had been upgraded to Version 3 Quiltmaker.

I couldn’t find any link anywhere, my dealer couldn’t get one from tech support, and I was unable to get any response from Janome tech support. I really wanted to be able to use all the features the MC15000 had and I wouldn’t be able without stumbling across this post.
Thanks to Carole O’Mara I was able to successfully load HL Suite on my computer.
This group and Jim and Diane are so helpful.
Best,

For some reason Janome software does not install the USB driver automatically. If you open the Horizon Link software there should be a button to install the driver. I don’t remember exactly what it’s called, but it should have USB in the title. Once the driver has been installed you can plug in the cable and the machine should connect.

So I gave up on trying to transfer the software to my new computer and am trying to use it from the old computer. The program opens but now I'm getting a communication error when I try to send a design to the machine as if the PC and the machine are not connected. I'm using the cable that came with it.

That message can come up if you try to install the software from the USB drive directly (i.e. open the USB, double click on "Setup"). Try copying the entire USB drive to a folder on your computer. This is pretty old software, using the InstallShield installation software. That product had its own bag of cryptic messages and weird issues.

I bought a MC12000 4 years ago and I'm just now finding the time to learn the embroidery part of the machine. When I purchased the machine I received a cd with the horizon link software on it and recently the seller graciously sent me a cd of the instructions. Now I can't find either. I did have the software loaded on my old computer but never used it. I loaded it on a jumpdrive (passport) and transferred it to my current computer but I just tried to open it and I keep getting a message "parameter is incorrect" . Is there a way to get an updated version of this software? Free hopefully. Or can anyone direct me what to do?
