Horizon Link Suite

Greetings Jim,

I live in Houston and I have a problem...

I purchased the MC 15000 in 2015 at International Quilt Festival. The computer that I downloaded the Horizon Link Suite has died and I have purchased a new laptop, Lenovo ThinkPad which does not have feature for CDs.

I purchased a new embroidery design yesterday and didn't realize I need the software to properly download the design. I have the Horizon Suite CD that came with the original purchase but can't use it. Please help... is there a way to download the software to my new laptop.

Thanks in advance

Sakeenah

You have to have some way to be able to load software on your computer. If there is no CD slot, then there must be a USB port. Find someone who has a computer that can read a CD and copy it to a flash drive. Then use the flash drive to install it on your computer. If you buy your flash drives from Best Buy they would probably do that for you for no charge.

After you download a design from a purchase website, you don’t ‘need‘ any software to get the design to the 15000 because you can simply use the Operating system’s file manager to copy/paste it from where you saved it on download to a USB thumb/flash drive that your 15000 has formatted…after ‘unzipping if necessary.  You do need the HLS software to transfer the design via WiFi, though, and for design layout/editing, etc.  To install the software, there are portable USB cd/dvd drives, or create your own USB copy of the disc using a different computer.

Sakeenah,
You mention that you need the software to download the design.  Actually you don’t.   You need the software for your computer to have an idea of what to do with the design, view or edit the design, or send it to the machine via WiFi.

You do not mention where you purchased the embroidery design, but you should be able to download the design and move it over to a USB (that you have already formatted in the 15000) even without the software.  Just download the JEF design stitch file and save it to your computer in a place you like. Then copy it over to the USB in the EMB>Embf file path.  Then you should be able to open it on your machine from the plugged in USB. Go to the file folder icon, choose the USB drive and navigate to the file.

Also, you can now buy portable CD drives that plug into computers through a USB port from any computer store or even online.  They are not very expensive.

After buying external cd drive I did not have a problem installing horizon link.  However, I did have problem installing monogram wizard from cd. I went to this site http://needleheads.com/index.php
the people who made it originally and was able to use my original serial number to get link to new one that let me download it from internet.  After asking and searching the only alternative to not having cd rom drive was to buy one which on Amazon was around 22$ US.
