I am a big janome fan. Got a 3500 and a skyline 5. I just do not want to invest in another combo machine. Love my 12000. The embroidery is just beautiful. Took my 12000 to shop. Hoping it is a minor problem. Thinking if I need to replace the machine I might go to embroidery only. Pixey, I can’t imagine the DIME Weightless Quilter wouldn’t work with a Janome embroidery sewing machine for QITH. We might have to set it a little further behind the embroidery unit or a smidgeon more toward the end in the machine to allow room for the hoop motion, but I’ve looked at that stand myself more than once because I think it would work just fine with my 15000. It would work exactly the same for line quilting as the ad pix show being done on other machines. - Cat Typos courtesy of autocorrect. |

Thanks for the different perspectives. At this point, I already have too many other projects in progress and am not looking for a DIY solution. In the past, I have mostly done smaller quilting projects (wall hangings, newborn quilts, etc.). However, I am anticipating a need to do larger quilting projects as I get more involved with my local guild. My sewing room is pretty tight on space, so my preference is for a compact out- of-the-box solution, which is why I asked about the DIME product.

I made a weightless quilter with a garment rack on wheels, bungee cords and clamps. I could use one more bungee but this is working great in the meantime. There are other weightless quilters on line less expensive and other ideas.

Lyn, You have a handy husband!

I haven’t used the DIME weightless, but my husband put batons and brass kitchen cabinet handles on the ceiling of my sewing room (my room is tiny) and I hang bungees of different lengths with a heavy duty clip on the end. They are all spaced differently so that I can move them if I need to, and that takes the weight of the quilt. I’m still getting used to it and it takes a bit of adjustments. I might get him to put up more batons and handles. But it works ok. It’s the weightless idea, but hung from the ceiling instead of floor or desk standing which I can’t accommodate, barely enough room for me and no spare floor space. > On 27 Nov 2021, at 15:29, Pixey via groups.io <pixeyam=yahoo.com@groups.io> wrote: > > I have noticed that all the videos for the DIME Weightless Quilter are done on embroidery machines with hoops driven from the side. Pixey, I have used it with the 15000 with no issues. I have my machine on a conference table so there is a lot of room behind the arm too but I don't think it would be an issue on a smaller table. I think Diane uses it successfully too. Ceil I have noticed that all the videos for the DIME Weightless Quilter are done on embroidery machines with hoops driven from the side. Has anyone used it with a 15000 and if so, are there any issues with positioning the back to clear the embroidery arm? |
