Janome updates
Jim Stutsman
A number of very interesting bulletins have appeared on the Janome Global site. These are undoubtedly related to what's being released at Janome Institute, which is happening now at several cities across the country. The nutshell version is that there will be an update to the 15000, which will make it a "Quilt Maker Memory Craft 15000". This is a hardware update, not free, and will install a sensor for a new needle plate HP and foot (HP). All this information is in the following Janome bulletins, which I will not repeat here, as you can download and read them yourself. Since most dealers have not attended Institute yet, this would be a good time to contact them and let them know if you want the update and/or accessory kit. It's very helpful for dealers to know in advance how many items people want so they can in turn order the appropriate quantity from Janome. Pricing is not shown, or known, until dealers come back from Institute. The bulletins: Professional Grade Foot and Professional Grade Needle Plate (HP) Darning Foot (Open-toe) (PD-H) 1/4 Seam Foot (without guide) (O) Variable Zigzag Open-toe Foot (QZ) Quilt Maker Accessory Upgrade Kit |

I have the 12000, so obviously some of that stuff won't work, but since I do have the HorizonLink software, will I be able to use the AcuStitch tool? Given that I have posted every bit of information that I have, I can't say for sure. However the bulletin on AcuStitchTool specifically says it's in Horizon Link Suite 1.31, but makes no mention of Horizon Link, which the 12000 uses. My guess is that if you can get the software you *might* be able to make compatible stitch files, but that's only a guess based on very limited information. From: "jim.stutsman@... This link takes you to the download page of the 15000 update. I’m not sure what else is coming but if I understand correctly there is to be a dealer update as well - this will probably have a cost as there may be something extra that needs to be purchased and installed by a Janome technician to use the new needle plate and foot, as something changes to allow the 15000 to read the information for positioning of the needle for sewing that precise straight quilt stitching line when piece, etc. At least some part of the upgrade/update is still free. Cheryl,
The update for the Horizon MC15000 to version 2.11 has been out since December 2015. That is when I updated my Machine. It is for the Embroidery Couching and they also bought out a new foot. |

Anyone know anything about a new needle threader being fitted F.O.C. for the 15000? |

I agree with you Ruth - I downloaded it then too. I'm wondering if they just haven't published the machine update yet - as if you look at the Bulletin for the AcuStitch Tool, this is a new tool in Horizon Link Suite v1.31 for MC15000 Quilt Maker but there is no update to Horizon Link Suite v1.31 on the Global site yet. So maybe both the machine update and the Horizon Link Suite update will be on the site soon. I must admit I thought I read on here that some people were already using the profession plate and foot - though of course they won't have the machine update that greys out everything except for stitches to the left of the machine, plus a few other updates - a tapering section and I think an addition to the applications - but don't quote me!! Hi,
I thought that an update this soon was to good to be true but to lazy to go down to my sewing machine to see what the last version I put on really was. I discovered that I am totally up-to-date and have been since the last was released whenever that was. I do wish that Janome (and anyone that does updates that need downloading) would put a date for those updates - it would really simplify matters for everyone. I haven’t ordered my upgrade yet, but I might find out the cost next week as one of my 2 dealers is in Las Vegas this week and the other is going to Minneapolis next week. I’m always torn as I have 2 wonderful dealers within a reasonable distance. One is in the next small city at 70-75 miles from my door and the other 7 miles across the river. Both have become business friends and I like them both. I do not play them against each other as all need to make a living or we wouldn’t have businesses, and I don’t like to play that game either. I will probably use the local dealer as that is where I bought my 15000 4 years ago. I just took the 15000 in for a major service, as I haven’t done that since I purchased it - it has been to the shop to have the needle threader fixed several times and it still doesn’t like me, so I’ve got out my little needle threader from my serger box and it works fine and so do my eyes most of the time if my glasses are clean and I feel like bending my head to the correct level. I’ll report back what I learn from Wendy, when I talk to her next week. My curiosity will need to have all the “new” information as soon as I can get it, just because I’m me and I NEED to know. I’m just glad that it isn’t a new machine as I really haven’t used mine enough to trade, but also know “me” and that I’d want it as son as I’ve seen it. I know that the “quilting” needle plate and foot are awesome as I have a friend with the 9400 and she swears by it. Enough rambling so I’ll sign off.
