15000 New Owner Lesson

Yes, it’s the same lesson.  It is really helpful.  It’s fun to see/do things you may not think of doing.  It’s kind of vague so I’ve been referring to the manual a lot.  I had to stop yesterday because I couldn’t get the part to work where you save a stitch pattern, click the home button, go back and open the stitch patten, then go home again and the stitch pattern is supposed to stay on the top of the screen.  Mine does not seem stay there or I didn’t open it right.  I had been at it for a while so maybe it will work today.

I can’t wait to hear about your training center lesson in March!  I agree it’s best to work on your own and write down questions you’re stuck on.  I’m waiting to schedule a lesson for that reason.  I also figure they will learn more tips and tricks the more classes they teach.

Is that the lesson for a new user that we discussed before?  I thought it was really useful.  I am still getting to know my machine.  I don't have any lessons with my dealer booked but I do have one booked with the Janome training centre in Stockport - about 250 miles from me - in March.  I missed the one in November and they don't do any over the Winter because of weather issues and no one wanting to travel there - it's the only training centre in UK.

Actually I'm glad because I think you need at least 6 months with a machine to get to know it and understand what you need help with, so you can go to the 1 day session and concentrate and ask questions on what you really need to know (Did that with my Elna way back).  UK customer service have been great so I am confident I would be able to get answers to whatever questions I ask them - though any tips would be welcome :0) and why I love this forum!

Hi Cas

I like the instructions in the lesson - they are exactly the sort of thing I want.  Easy to read and in point form (I'm a great one for lists!).  I didn't have any issues with them so maybe you are more arty then me :0)

Re your issue - am I right in thinking it's with combining the shoe pattern with a name? - Maybe you didn't press the combine button before you selected the shoe and saved it - that I think would have caused you to lose the shoe when you went to add a name in the monogram but it's difficult to explain with not knowing exactly what you did.

I'll give it a go tomorrow to see if I have any issues with it.

I had named and saved it correctly, but I was having difficulty finding it to open it and then go back to home screen to add to it.  On the file menu it is sometimes helpful to use the up arrow on the lower right to locate a file.

I figured this out with a fresh brain the next day.
