Saving a design

J M

Hi

I have the janome 15000 and I'm trying to save one of the built in designs to a usb so I can stitch this design on another machine. (To save time)  I finally got it on the usb but it saved as jef+ and Wilcome Trusizer won't recognize it to convert it to pes. I'm so confused. Could someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

                                                                            Thank You,

                                                                            Joyce

Making like a PES dispenser, Jim says:

Actually JEF+ is fine for the 15000. It will also accept JEF and JPX, even DST. What you don't need is PES - that's a Brother format. The only reason you would want to convert to PES would be if you were a closet Brother user. Oh oh - I feel a disturbance in the Force. If you absolutely MUST put a beautiful Janome design into a nasty old Brother don't bother with the USB drive. Instead connect your machine to your computer by USB cable. Open the design you want in HorizonLink Suite (EmbLink Tool) and use "File -> Save As" to save it out as JEF. That you can import into TruSizer and save as (shudder) PES.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your answer. I'm not a closet brother user (lol) but I must confess to a baby lock, hence the need for pes. I've been doing a ton of FSL and would really like to use both machines for the same design. Thanks again,
Joyce

Jim she is trying to convert the design to a PES from a JEF.

Joyce not being familiar with the TruSizer try to open it in the Trusizer and go to the top tool bar File and Save As to convert, it could be that the design is not correct stitch limit for the PES format.

Can you open the JEF+ file in HL Suite and resave as a plain JEF? Trusizer should recognize that and convert, but there's no guarantee that the stitchout will be the same between the two machines.

Jim, Since you have the Horizon Link Suite, couldn't you simply open the design there and then save as the PES? When we install the HL, all of the built in designs are stored in the program on the computer! I don't see the reason to transfer the design from the machine to the HLS and then save it as the new format. Am I missing something here?!!

Down for the count, Jim says:
I'm the one missing something, the something being a good part of my brain. Yes the designs are already in HLS.

Jim, oops, I know that HLS only will save JEF and JEF+, so if she saves it as the JEF then opens it in her Wilcom to save it as PES that will work. But still, she doesn't have to send it from her machine to the HLS, correct?

Just back from a wander down the garden path, Jim says:
Yes you are correct. All of the built-in designs on the 15000 are already available in HorizonLink Suite.

Horizon Link does not allow you to save designs in a different format than Janome.  It is a program that is limited.  Now if you have Janome MBX software which is Janome software you can save the design in different formats including PES but not ART which is Bernia.

Thank You to all for helping me get the Janome design into my other machine. Thanks to everyones suggestions I am now happily watching both machines stitch out my lace. Going directly into Horizon Link and saving from there was the answer. I appreciate the willingness to help because there is so much I have yet to learn.      Joyce
