Need some info

I'm really in the need for a new computer.  Do to all the talk and and my old age...LOL...I'm confused about the 12000 and it's compatibility with the iPad and the iPad mini.  Will my Horizon link work with these devices?  My SIL is an IT guy and steers me away from Apple but I want the best technology for my machine.
Thanks for any help!

HorizonLink is strictly a PC program. There are ways to use AcuEdit on the iPad with a 12000, if you already own an iPad, but in your case I would recommend that you stay with a PC. Right now Asus and Acer seem to have the best build quality. I would avoid Dell and HP, Dell having fallen off the cliff of quality and HP never having gotten near it. If you now use Digitizer (any version) or plan to in the future, get lots of RAM (8GB or more), good graphics and a fast processor (Intel i7 quad core or better). Your SIL should be able to guide you.

I agree with Jim on the quality of Asus and Acer.... I happen to love my ASUS laptop and have an ASUS mother board in my desktop.  My husband has an ASUS tablet and loves it.

If your SIL is an IT maybe he can build you a custom computer and use just the best components. That is what my son always does for me.

I have had a Dell Lap top for going on 5 years and absolutely love it.  The Support has been fantastic even when I have been out of warranty and been running my MBX on it with no issues.

Coming out of the dell after visiting the farmer, Jim says:
In my PC days I bought only Dell and had a lot of luck with them. However today's Dell is not the Dell of 5 years ago. They are now in a race to the bottom with all the other PC manufacturers.

I agree with you Pat and Jim about Asus but I also rate Lenovo.

I don't know anything about Acer.  I too have an Asus laptop and an Asus motherboard in my desktop (which I bought online and was able to specifiy all the components I wanted).  I reviewed all the tablets when my husband wanted one and got him a Lenovo Idea Pad - the Ipads were way over priced for what they do in my opinion and he only wants to surf, ebay and access his emails anyway.  He loves the Lenovo.

I'd always recommend getting as much RAM as you can afford - you never know what you want to do in the future.

Dropping in from a visit to the beautiful world, Jim says:
Lenovo used to be IBM. They do make good computers, although they are a little pricier than some of the others. Like all electronics, they are made in China.

Jim: Can you explain how one would use the AcuEdit for the MC12000? I thought the only machine that could use the IPad was the 15K.

Thanks you,

Trying to guess whether he has enough years of life left to do that, Jim says:
Yes I can explain, but not in a post on this group. There are a lot of variables. I'm hoping to do a seminar on it for a friend next spring. I'll work up a PDF and/or video and post it, but now is not the time.

Thanks Jim. I downloaded the app last night. Looking forward to your instructions when you have the time.
