I was wondering what size of pre=wound

The only prewounds that I use in a Janome machine are those made by Janome. Your dealer probably has them in packs to sell. None of the other prewounds seem to fit properly in the bobbin case and I never want to take the chance of a hopping bobbin or a jam. Pat

As noted, size A is equivalent to the class 15 bobbins used in the 12000. Stay away from L size, which are the same diameter, but shorter, and NEVER use coins to raise up a short bobbin! Sounds crazy, I know, but some people do this.

When searching for pre-wound bobbins online, one secret is to include "108" in your search terms. The Janome pre-wounds are packed 108 to a box. L-size, such as NEBS, are packed 144 to a box. This can help you determine if what you are getting is a true Janome bobbin. The boxes themselves are plain white, with no branding. Janome's part number is RAPREW108, if you want to have your local dealer order them.

I get my Janome 12k on Saturday, upgrading from a Viking Designer SE. I am so excited. I have many prewound clear plastic bobbins. My dealer assures me that there is an adapter made for Brother machines that will work in the Janome so that I can use up all my prewound L bobbins. Cost is about $10. Will purchase new bobbins for the Janome once these are used up. If that does not work I will transfer the Viking prewounds to a Janome bobbin.

maalleh (sorry you didn't sign)--I just got my 12000 after having HVs since 1992 & you will LOVE Janome! Soooo user friendly. I've bought 3 different Janomes in the past month (actually dh surprised me with the FM 725). I still have Ruby but I am a convert. You will not be sorry.
As for pre-wounds I can't say for sure as my test may have been a top thread issue but changed both top & bobbin just to be sure. -- Vicki Jo I get my Janome 12k on Saturday, upgrading from a Viking Designer SE. Since that was my first post, I try to do better next time. Don't know
how to add my name to member list yet. Bought my first Viking in 1978 when warranties were still 25 years. Kept it for 28 years. I will still be using the Viking 4D Professional software for a time. Have to save up for the Janome software. Needless to say I am very excited. I'm sure there is a lot I can learn while saving. Thanks to everyone in this group. I look forward to getting to know you. Don't use the size L bobbins in your 12000, and don't waste money on an adapter. Wind them onto Janome bobbins instead. In the future use only class 15 (aka size A) prewound bobbins.
