Janome 15000 stitch chart

Debbie

Does anyone besides me find it frustrating that there are 500 stitches and no good summary table of them, what foot they use and where to use. I have started going through the manual to create and I have done most of buttonhole and utility stitches. Most of those are explained. Though fly stitches just says B17-B20 and eyelet just says B21-B25 and she’ll tuck just says U20 & U24.

Does anyone one have such information or know where I can get more info to finish my chart. I will share with group once completed.

Many thanks.

Virginia

Debbie once you select the application or stitch you would like to use the foot is suggested on your machine itself.  The little shirt on your selection page has everything need to sew and the foot you need.  The other stitches also show the suggested foot.  The reason I say "suggested" is the foot suggested is not always the one you like to use.  As long as the correct plate is on your machine your favorite feet can be used.

The chart of stitches is under the lid of the 15000.

Then, Jim Stutman’s app, “My 15000 by Software Miracles” details each stitch and how it works.   If you buy it in conjunction with his “Foot Book”, I think it’s cheaper than buying separately.  I forget how much they are but both are invaluable and worth the price.

Thanks Virginia but I want a summary sheet of ideas/ways to use them. I’m not very creative in my thinking. Same as Jim’s videos on MyJanome. I love it but don’t want to look at every video to get an idea. For example which stitches work best with wing needle, are good for fagotting or best when working with denim.

I use the Stitch Chart near the end (pages) of the PDF version Instruction Book.

One thing to remember is when selecting a stitch if the wrong plate or foot is on the machine the stitches that are not right or the plate is wrong the unusable stitches will be grayed out.

From my own experience I would suggest that if you want to learn about how to use the various decorative stitches, the best way to start out is to stitch every single one of them and create a Stitch Book or some type of record so that you can actually see what they look like and how they stitch. The little pictures on the machine and the manual will never give a complete visual of this. As another member recommended, look at the screen for information, and compare this with what the manual may say about the stitch and or the category.
Re Wing Needles, the type of stitch you want is a stitch pattern that goes in and out of the same spot a few times to create the hole that the needle makes. The first five stitches in the Heirloom category of the 12000 and 15000 work well for Wing Needle work. Wing Needle work also works best on natural fiber fabrics rather than synthetics.
Back to my first recommendation; make a record!

Suggest to your dealer that there is a block of the month quilt pattern called ‘stitchers garden’ that helps educate uses of the feet and stitches.

The new Horizon Link update with the quilt maker allows us to bring many of the decorative stitches into the embroidery hoop.  It offers some options on making circles and lines.  This is a great opportunity to construct frames and border designs.  Embird also imports the Janome stitch extension and you can edit and create with the stitches.  I’d love to see a video ... hint hint ..... on this feature of HL.

I love, love, love the little stitch book! I want to make one just like it...how did You do it please? It looks as if you have ruled calico and stitched the stitches in varying lengths and widths, then somehow bound the edges and made buttonholes for the rings. My creativity isn’t advanced enough to work out the details, so please help!
Thank you, Mary Galea

Yes, the "Stitchers Garden" is a great way to utilize the Stitches, and makes a lovely quilt! Two other quilt projects that also expand the use of decorative stitches are the "Latte Quilt" and "Triple Needle Heirloom Quilt", I haven't looked lately to see if they are still available. Latte was a book and design set and Triple Needle...was a free project with instructions for Brother & Pfaff Stitches.
The function to "Convert STX files" in Horizon Link Suite is a great addition to the software. It's fairly easy to use but does require a little fiddling to get the start & end points of the Circles to match up perfectly. I'm hoping that a future update will make it a little more improved, but it's fun to use. Also, if you've created any of your own STX files in Stitch Composer they can be used, which really can expand the stitches available. Janome hasn't made all of the machine stitches into STX files for use. I've asked for them, but didn't get a positive answer! Bernina has all of their decorative stitches available on the Embroidery side of their machines, and I think Pfaff has too.

I probably shouldn't have mentioned the Triple Needle Heirloom Quilt. I researched and cannot find any links to it anymore. I have the instructions that the designer, Peggy German, gave many years ago, but she has a privacy clause written into it that the project can't be shared without her permission. A few years ago I tried to contact her through the email address on her instructions and wasn't successful.
Sorry!
Also, the Latte Quilt Book is still available and there's a Yahoo group still functioning.
