Jim, thank you. That makes sense now. I was using the yellow dot bobbin holder, 40 wt. polyester on top and the Janome prefil bobbin on the bottom. After I found the SET screen adjuster, all went well

Cas, yes the quilting except for the stitch in the ditch was done as embroidery in the hoop. The quilt squares were 10" so I had to move the hoop around in each square since my designs were for an 8'.
