I am sooo sorry to hear about her left wrist!!!  down to only one wrist myself, i can appreciate how important they are!
As to the App, maybe some new blocks/designs. but i understand that may  be hard if Diane is not up to it.  It is sad that it has a 1star rating in the apps store, but that is just because there is so little activity with the app.  I think if there were a feature update it could keep the App relevant....i recently created an in the hoop block, outside of the app....maybe i can hunt it down and send it your way for you to use?  LMK  and a speedy recovery for Diane, we all really appreciate you both.  (And take it or leave it: Harvard did a great study on Dairy products leaching calcium from our bones to neutralize the natural acidity of dairy in our bodies.  As we get older healing is slower, so any little bit helps ;) )

re  the bobbin thread being brought to the top of the design.
Make sure that you have the bobbin in correctly. If you have it in backwards it will pull the bobbin thread up to the top.
Look carefully at the diagram on the bobbin cover, it shows that the thread comes off to the left (counter clockwise) and then through the tension.
Other issues could be the type of bobbin thread you use and which bobbin case, the yellow dot case has a tighter tension which may help your problem.

As long as I have no more sewing machines than my hubby had ancient sports cars in the garage, I'm okay! We're even: 3 Janomes, 2 Triumphs and one Jaguar XK140!

There really isn’t a comparison between the M7 and the 15000. The M7 is a very powerful sewing machine and does lovely stitching but it cannot embroidery. The 15000 is fantastic because it is a combined embroidery/sewing machine. There would have been a time that I wouldn’t have wanted an “embroidery only” machine, but I’m beginning to see the merits of having the stand alone. Neither of these 2 machines are suitable to “take to class” as they are just to heavy to carry. I can lift them, but I surely don’t like to. There is some new technology on the M7 that allows you to use your phone (not sure if it is android friendly yet as I only have an iPhone) to get instructions on “how to” do things by using an “APP” called AcuSpark which reads a QR code of the screen of the machine. Isn’t that great - now we want to have our phones or iPads with us at the sewing machine. I’m thinking “what next?” However, all this stuff is fun to play with and is useful - we don’t have to worry about “misplacing the machine manual” and there still is a physical one with the machine.

I have both machines and an S9 too. I’m not sure that my husband thinks I’m a sane person, but I love my machines and the technology too.

My 500e came with an Instructonal DVD and a DVD with Embroidery Editor v1.0.  Which works very similar to Acutools but being embroidery only has a few less features.

Hi Mel, welcome to the group! Your 500E actually comes with a CD/DVD that contains the software you will need for your machine. Customizer 11000 is older software that was originally created for the Memory Craft 11000, then later modified to include the 350E. It won't do a thing for you, and actually has issues with Windows 10 using USB. When you get your machine install the software that came with it, and then if you have questions you can ask them here. On the 550E I believe the software is called "AcuTools", but I don't know what it is on the 500E. You can let us know that too!

Customer 11000 is no longer available to purchase. It was replaced by Janome Digitizer, which is up to version 5. If you are only interested in editing and not digitizing, look into Embrilliance Essentials. Hatch by Wilcom also has a similar program.

I just got mine last week as an early Christmas present.      It has been a learning curve as I have embroidered for many years with pfaff.    My biggest problem has been with the bobbin thread being brought to the top of the design.   Haven’t been able to fix this problem yet.   Hope to be able to spend more time with it next week.    The people here have been great answering my questions

Customizer 11000

I am new to Janome machines.  I just purchased a 500e and waiting on delivery.  I have been reading a lot of information
online about the Janome brand etc.  One of the items that I can across was referring to the "Customizer 11000" software that
sounded impressive.  It is not new rather it seems to have been around for 10 years or so.  Can anyone tell me more about
the software and where can it be purchased?

Re: 1600P

Jim Stutsman

Diane's 1600P is her go-to for anything heavy duty, and she's stitched some stuff with it I would not have thought possible. It's a fairly simple machine, so there is not a lot to go wrong. However we did have one customer that somehow bent the needle bar on hers. That could cause problems like those you have described, but to diagnose what's wrong really requires hands and eyes on the machine. Have a technician take a look at it. The problems sound obvious enough that it should be easy to recognize and fix.

Re: Quilt in the Hoop- any feature updates on the horizon?

Diane has been doing some experimenting, but it's slow going. Last year she was hampered by a broken right wrist. This year it's the left wrist broken almost to the day a year later. What features would you like to have? Blocks and techniques are her department, but changes in the app function are mine.

i was wondering what "technical improvements" in particular were made that would have you considering a new machine?  I think that looking at the comparison sheet, when the M7 was released, that i felt like i would still choose the 15000 over it...but i may have missed something...

Please delete if not allowed, i realize the group is for embroidery machines:

i am just wondering, as i have all of these quilts that need to be quilted....how to get my 1600P to actually sew.  i have it on a grace frame.  it has worked in the past (though never perfectly)  it was breaking top thread every 2 inches, and now is only picking up the bobbin thread every 3rd stitch or so  :(  and since it started doing this new bit, i went back to the set up where it was sewing for 2 inches before breaking.  i just don't know. is this machine a tosser?  I  have checked the level, changed thread, bobbins, needles, followed the threading patterns in the manual, oiled and ran the machine with no thread. i also tried going from the freemotion foot that came with the machine and i had used in the past, to the westalee ruler foot (thinking that was a dumb investment right now ;)  no burrs on the plate or feet...just not sure if there is anything else i can do/try
Thank you for any thoughts

Without starting finger-pointing, the "bad iOS 13 citizen" is actually AcuEdit as it cannot cope with additional apps handling JEF files.

But unloading StitchBuddy might help when AcuEdit is afterwards the only app associated with Janome designs. I found the problem temporarily fixed, but reoccurring after some time when multiple apps opening the same file type were installed.

Long story short: AcuEdit is doing a bad job and needs an update, but in the meantime removing every other app which opens JEF helps...

Happy Dance!

Just had to share.....I just finished #14 of the knit jackets I needed to embroider a logo on. Thanks to Pixey's stabilizer "sandwich", they all came out beautifully. I used the Tailorform "knit" needle that I inherited and it worked great in my Janome and on the jackets.....so, I am doing a major happy dance, to have them done and ready to drop off tonight. Yeah!!
Thanks and Merry Christmas!! Joyce in brrrrr GA
