No, not true. It's embroidery hoop RE, part number 860421001. This hoop was created after endless screaming from 11000 owners who could not understand why it was not available.

I've been playing with the Stitch Composer with (what I think is!!!) good success. I've posted one of my efforts in the group files. I copied the stitch from one of my favorites on another machine. I also digitized the stitch to use as a motif in MBX. Such Fun!

I know a little bit about the new 9900 that was released at last week's trade show. Our Janome dealers came back with great excitement about the machine. They think that the new machine is a wonderful machine. Body style is similar to 11K machine but a little bit bigger.
Large hoop is 9" square.
The Built-in designs are ALL brand new designs and the decorative stitch width is 9mm. Embroidery unit is styled like the 12K, being a removable unit. It will use the same clothsetter as the Janome 12K. Also the stitch count in embroidery is 200,000 stitches! Yay, that means that an update to the 12K is coming soon to update it's stitch count! Our machine should be arriving in our store this week. So, Oops, if I've leaked any info that shouldn't be out there yet, then don't post this yet!!

Vicki, Did you try to reinstall the software or modify at the install screen? It sounds like there might be something that didn't get loaded or launched when you installed the software. I just got the upgrade when I was in Arizona, but haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but it appeared to be working when I installed it.

Chris and Bev,

Thanks for the reply. I was travelling when the DVD was released and didn't always have good internet access while on my month in sunny Arizona, so waited until I got home February 3, late to order first thing Monday, Feb. 4th in the morning. Later that day, I read the post that the DVD's were all sold and the second group would be produced and sent out. I'm just a keener and want it yesterday, but Jim has assured me that it went in the mail on February 9th. I should receive it after the Monday, Feb. 18th holiday. I just must be patient - it will come.

Hopefully we get ours this week. Happy you got yours! Mine was bit delayed as Jim was kind to put Closed Captions for me (deaf) and others too with hearing problems.
Enjoy it.

Hi I am a new owner of janome 12000. My thread broke on the bobbin and I thought it was the top thread. I kept re-threading about 3 or 4 times and it never worked. Now the problem is I figured out it was the bobbin and my thread color has finished that area. Is there any way to go back to the beginning of that thread color only?

Try left clicking on top of the arrow and moving your mouse slightly to the right. The fly out should show up. You need to release the left button over the tool that you want on the fly out. The icon on the tool bar will then change to the tool you have selected from the fly out.

The results you can achieve are well worth the time it takes to get comfortable with this program.

It's a replacement for the 9500 & 9700, which are sewing/embroidery combination machines. We did not attend the trade show that it was unveiled in, so we'll wait for the website to update on the first:

That would be an indication that the needle plate sensor is right on the edge of being out of alignment. Next time you take it in for service be sure to mention this, as it's a simple adjustment.

Thanks, Jim. I understand how it works a little better now. Can't wait until I get it back. Sewing on the Jem Platinum just doesn't compare!

--- In janome12000@..., "Jim_Stutsman" <jim@...> wrote:

In all the touch screen models the screen is a completely separate piece of electronics from the motherboard. They are connected by two cables. One of them is for carrying the data to be displayed from the motherboard to the screen, and the other is for carrying touch data. The touch cable is a thin "ribbon" cable and it's perilously fragile. On some models both cables are ribbons. It's pretty easy to damage one of these when doing major service on the machine. Generally the only time those cables get touched is to change the display screen or the motherboard.

The point is that there are 3 points of potential failure in this system - the screen itself, the motherboard, and the interconnecting cables. Usually a problem of touches that bring up the wrong result is a screen failure. Cable failure usually results in a screen that simply does not respond to any touch. In 25 years I never saw a motherboard failure related to the screen. The usual service procedure is to change the cable first, because it's fairly inexpensive, then the screen, and finally the main board. Your technician should be able to sort out the problem, but if the fix turns out to be ineffective be sure you get credit for parts you did not need.

hi There Jim, I also have this intermittent issue with the screen on my 11000 (I am currently trying to upgrade to 12000 :) - I was told that it is not the screen - but the motherboard of the machine playing up. Any thoughts on this?

Cheers!

Over the 25 years we were dealers, I had to replace maybe 4 or 5 touch screens on various models, out of hundreds of machines. It's rare for one to fail, but it does happen once in a while. I'm sure it's annoying, but it's covered by warranty.

First problem with my 12000. It is now a little over a year old and the touch screen has gone bonkers. If you touch the icon you want there is no telling what you will get. Hit straight stitch and get SET screen, Hit zigzag and it comes up embroidery. Cannot change the screen calibration, although you can work with the dial screen. It is at the dealer's now and he called Janome. I talked to him today and the ribbon part Janome sent him has not fixed it so he ordered an additional part. Makes me want my 11000 back.

Has anyone else had a problem like this?

Re: Pressure Foot issue

Jim_Stutsman <jim@...>

The message is essentially a generic one relating to a failure during the power-on self-test. In this case it is probably a sensor that isn't registering the presser foot being raised. Given that you think the presser foot is not at the right position, it could be as simple as a set screw that wasn't tight enough, allowing the presser bar to push out of position. In any case, it's not related to anything that you did and once fixed it's unlikely to happen again.
