Try left clicking on top of the arrow and moving your mouse slightly to the right. The fly out should show up. You need to release the left button over the tool that you want on the fly out. The icon on the tool bar will then change to the tool you have selected from the fly out.

The results you can achieve are well worth the time it takes to get comfortable with this program.

It's a replacement for the 9500 & 9700, which are sewing/embroidery combination machines. We did not attend the trade show that it was unveiled in, so we'll wait for the website to update on the first:

That would be an indication that the needle plate sensor is right on the edge of being out of alignment. Next time you take it in for service be sure to mention this, as it's a simple adjustment.

Thanks, Jim. I understand how it works a little better now. Can't wait until I get it back. Sewing on the Jem Platinum just doesn't compare!

The touch cable is a thin "ribbon" cable and it's perilously fragile. On some models both cables are ribbons. It's pretty easy to damage one of these when doing major service on the machine. Generally the only time those cables get touched is to change the display screen or the motherboard.

The point is that there are 3 points of potential failure in this system - the screen itself, the motherboard, and the interconnecting cables. Usually a problem of touches that bring up the wrong result is a screen failure. Cable failure usually results in a screen that simply does not respond to any touch. In 25 years I never saw a motherboard failure related to the screen. The usual service procedure is to change the cable first, because it's fairly inexpensive, then the screen, and finally the main board. Your technician should be able to sort out the problem, but if the fix turns out to be ineffective be sure you get credit for parts you did not need.

First problem with my 12000. It is now a little over a year old and the touch screen has gone bonkers. If you touch the icon you want there is no telling what you will get. Hit straight stitch and get SET screen, Hit zigzag and it comes up embroidery. Cannot change the screen calibration, although you can work with the dial screen. It is at the dealer's now and he called Janome. I talked to him today and the ribbon part Janome sent him has not fixed it so he ordered an additional part. Makes me want my 11000 back.

Re: Pressure Foot issue

Jim_Stutsman <jim@...>

The message is essentially a generic one relating to a failure during the power-on self-test. In this case it is probably a sensor that isn't registering the presser foot being raised. Given that you think the presser foot is not at the right position, it could be as simple as a set screw that wasn't tight enough, allowing the presser bar to push out of position. In any case, it's not related to anything that you did and once fixed it's unlikely to happen again.
