Re: Netbook computer

If you don't have a DVD drive our videos are not going to work. But since you asked about Horizon Link, if you can find a computer that has both a DVD drive and a USB port, you can copy the DVD to a USB drive. Ditto for our DVD. Just make sure to copy ALL files, including the hidden ones. In Windows that requires making hidden files visible first.

Hi Jim!

While everyone is waiting for a 200,000 stitch capability update, is it not possible to just split a large design by stitch number, ie by the maximum number of stitches that the 12000 will accept using the Janome software? Load the two parts of the design as two separate files, sew out the first part, then load the second part and sew that. no rehooping or anything, just change from one design part to the other. You could sew a design with any number of stitches this way no matter what the machine's stitch limitation is.

Hi Jim,

I love your funny jokes, the dog came and delivered and I gave him treats and be on his way back to you!

I am so glad that you have decided to include CC on all of your videos and that does really help us with hearing impaired as many of DVDs from other sources don't have them and had to guess what they are talking about, most of time I give up and not watch at all. I get DVDs from Sewing With Nancy, always has CC and loved that. Maybe next video CC will be smaller. Do you put them in or company who made DVDs for you make them? Anyway it is worth millions of thanks for your work, no matter how big it is as I could watch video then repeat it with CC.

Did American boxes of Janome MC12000 come with Digitizer MBX DVD lesson in it? I got one but can't remember if it was with the machine or with software, I am getting forgetful. Anyway it has no CC so I try to watch but not easy as I wanted to know why it is being done or what for so forth with all questions in my head. Gave up watching it.

Okay keep up with your great job for all of us! I am going to watch the DVD today to finish the rest of it.

Sandra :)😃

Thank goodness! We were about to send out a search party to find Sparky, the 3-legged delivery dog. I'm glad we didn't have to do that, because Darrell, our search duck, has a very short attention span and is easily distracted.

Although we've equipped the DVD with autostart when used in Windows, the security features of Windows get very excited about doing it. They throw up a scary warning that you have to get past before they even attempt to open the DVD.

We've made a decision that every video we make from here on will be captioned. Support for captions in HTML5 video is sporadic. Apple Safari will support it, but does not provide any way to turn it off. Internet Explorer 10 supports it correctly. Google Chrome supports it, but only if the caption file is on a remote website, not on a local file like our DVD. Fortunately the player that we use does support it, although the captions are a lot larger than I would like.

Re: alligator stitch

Cheryl Paul

Hi,

You aren't the only one who misses that alligator. It was NOT on the MC10000/10001 as I had that machine and it was one of the decorative stitches that I really missed. We just need someone to create it and share. I haven't learned enough about Horizon Link yet to give it a try, but I will one day. I am going to download the .png file Jim put up for us so that I will have something to go by.

Actually, it is almost the same size indeed as the 11000 but has a screen like the 12000 (without the circle thing) and the screen has more colors to it.

I know a little bit about the new 9900 that was released at last week's trade show. Our Janome dealers came back with great excitement about the machine. They think that the new machine is a wonderful machine. Body style is similar to 11K machine but a little bit bigger.
Large hoop is 9" square.
The Built-in designs are ALL brand new designs and the decorative stitch width is 9mm. Embroidery unit is styled like the 12K, being a removable unit. It will use the same clothsetter as the Janome 12K. Also the stitch count in embroidery is 200,000 stitches! Yay, that means that an update to the 12K is coming soon to update it's stitch count! Our machine should be arriving in our store this week. So, Oops, if I've leaked any info that shouldn't be out there yet, then don't post this yet!!

Just to prevent any sadness here-the two hoops sizes (and the comment that the maximum embroidery size is 6.7" X 7.9") are 5.5" X 5.5" and 6.7" X 7.9")so now it seems that we'll all go back to complaining about the hoops being too small for all those 200,000 stitch designs! It is the same size as the 12000-with a 9mm stitch width. And "only" 133 of the 175 built in designs are new (not all of them. Oh, and it doesn't have the Acufeed system!

Updates vs. Upgrades

favymtz

Yes, I too sure hope that it is an update we get to increase our stitch count. I'm also emphatically stating that I'm not starting a rumor that it will get increased, I'm just assuming it will be, based on the fact that the new 9900 machine has the high stitch count. That means that Janome has the capability finally to have those high stitch counts. We were told by a Janome educator that it is simply a software issue in the machine that could be improved on. SO, hopefully it will be an update! As to the issue about having a 5x7 hoop, I'm sure that would be an upgrade, as I recall that it was an upgrade on the 11K machines when they came out with the RE hoop. It sure would be nice if the capability was in an update and then we can decide if we want to purchase the hoop as an add-on. That's what Babylock did on their machines when they added a border hoop. The update gave the capability but the hoop enabled the use of the update.

Re: Getting Designs to the 12000

Jim_Stutsman <jim@...>

Horizon Link is fine for sending designs to a USB drive, but the machine requires them to be in very specific folders. You say you are clicking "Save". Is that the save on the menu pulled down by clicking the machine in the top left corner? If so, that's not the best way, because then you must navigate to the correct folder. Instead click the "Write a Design" button on the toolbar. It will make sure the design gets into the correct folder so the machine sees it.

Hello, Just joined the group, just got my 12000 today! I am trying to get a design from my PC to the machine and I'm having a problem.

I have Horizonlink open and am in Editing Embroidery Designs. I loaded my design into the editing screen and am trying to save it to a USB stick to get it to the machine. I click save, and save the design to the stick as JEF+ file. It's definitely on the USB stick, it shows in Windows, it can be loaded again to the Horizonlink software, but when I try to pull it up in the 12000, it says "no file to show". I have formatted the USB stick, tried other sticks, and still no results. What am I doing wrong? This seems like it should be so simple.

Thanks,
Gloria Sweeney

I got my 12000 about 3 weeks ago and am getting familiar with it and all the bells and whistles. I had a MC9000 before but absolutely love this machine! Can't wait til I have my first lesson at my local Janome dealer (boy do I have a list of questions)!

I joined this group to get all the 411 that I could and WOW do you guys do some awesome work. Makes me want to get creative. Love the group thanks.
