Re: Quilt binder set

I have the binder attachment and love it, makes the process very easy, although I have not mastered the mitered corner but I am working on it and actually had one turn out quite well! but I do believe its worth the money.  have not tried a decortive stitch but I am sure it could work depending on what foot you use...I use the narrow accufeed foot to pull the layers thru

I keep looking at this binder and have drooled myself dry. Has anyone else used this attachment, besides Jim and Diane? I know it's very pricy and was wondering how everyone binds their quilts, by machine or finished by hand. Also, can a decorative stitch be used with this attachment?

Thanks for all your hard work. Can't wait for my DVD to arrive.

Got home from work real late tonight and after stopping at my mailbox was thrilled to find my Cd had arrived. Glad The Colony is next door to Frisco. Also glad that I'm off tomorrow and can browse the video. Will see if it runs on both the Mac ( I know it will) and also Win 8
Thanks Jim and Diane: Barbara G

Actually it does work on Windows 8 if you use the built-in Internet Explorer. If you use Google Chrome it has issues. I'm in the process of updating the website.

All orders are sent by US Postal Service, but we were waiting for UPS to
bring us more disk mailers. They did, and all orders have now been shipped.

FootBook is an app that we wrote for the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch. For those who don't have an "iDevice" we offer it as an interactive DVD that runs on your computer. Full details are available here: http://www.onlinesewing.com/footbook

Our just-released video guide for the 12000 is everything that should have come with the machine, but didn't. Details are here: http://www.onlinesewing.com/12kvideo
If you decide you'd like to order, though, don't order there. We have a special discount for members of this list: http://www.onlinesewing.com/yahoo12k

Twin needle

dawsewmad

Hi Jim/Dianne, I would like to try and use an embroidery design with a twin needle but I'm not sure what to buy. Can you please tell me if I need an off set or centre needle and what would be the best size? Also what should I look for in a design eg outline/redwork or a simple satin? Do you have any sample photos of embroidery designs done with a twin needle.
Many thanks
Dawn

Re: Let the shipping begin!

Vikki Youngmeyer

Just got mine in today’s mail. We don’t have “Sparky”, as our mailman, but may have his ADD owner! We live on a cul-de-sac  that is one block long and has 10 houses on it. He delivered mail to two houses on the street – mine was one of them. He didn’t pick up the mail at the houses further down the street. He pulled into my driveway to turn around and headed out the way he came in!

Please do bear in mind that Sparky, the 3-legged dog our Postal Service uses for delivering parcels, is not a strong swimmer. He may need a few extra days to cross the Atlantic. When he does finally show up, please reward him with a bit of bacon. Our Sparky was quite the speedy pup until that incident with the great white while crossing the barrier reef in Australia a few years back. He now sports a shark-repelling collar, and a barb on the tip of his tail. He picked up that tip from a sting ray in Bermuda last year.

The US Postal Service was looking into adding more delivery dogs this year, but the global shift to email has decimated their budget. Last spring they ran a trial program with some cats, but they never were able to get them to deliver much of anything, and the program was canceled after someone tried to ship a crate of fish and the entire team disappeared with the parcel. There has been some talk about using apes, especially for the large and heavy packages, but they are very hard to get, as all of the airports have them under contract as baggage handlers. So the search continues.

Those of you in the US should have them in 3-5 days. Outside the US the postal service claims 7-10 days, but the team of 3-legged dogs they use for delivery usually clocks in at 10-14 days. In any case we want to thank everyone for you patience!

Re: jbf files

Jim_Stutsman <jim@...>

Without knowing any details, I can safely say that any message that comes up in Japanese is a bug in Horizon Link. The only messages that won't be "localized" to display in the language of the computer the program is running on would be those put in for debugging by the programmers. Without knowing the details to be able to duplicate the problem, I can only make some educated guesses. First is the issue of the .jbf extension. JBF files are not designs, but every design will have a JBF file with the same name. These files are actually images, much like JPG but simpler in structure. They are the thumbnails that appear on the screen of the machine. In your case Horizon Link was complaining about the JBF file. Possible causes might be:

* The JBF file could not be created by Horizon Link for some reason.

* There was already a JBF file on the machine by the same name. (Should NOT be an error!)

* The design (and JBF) already existed on the machine and the message was an overwrite warning.

* The JBF file faulty in some way.

If you send a JEF to the machine, either directly or by USB drive, the machine will create a JBF file for it when it gets the JEF. If you haven't already done so, be sure to check for updates to your Horizon Link and MBX: http://www.janome.co.jp/e/e_downloads/software.html

--- In janome12000@..., "gbmko" wrote:

I designed a design in MBX, and saved it as a jef. I opened Horizon Link, and brought up the transfer window, found the design, selected it, and when I tried to transfer it to the emb folder, I got the Japanese error message, with the name of my design.jbf it was definetely a jef file, so why might Horizon link be bringing up the jbf, and not recognizing the jef associated with it, allowing me to transfer? I can go to that same design, and just save it on the flash drive, so I don't need Horizon Link...but would like to know if it is something I could avoid, or if it is an error in Horizon Link.
