I always love your introductory comments, Jim!

Wheel moves freely so I guess it is a sensor issue. Still under warranty so we will make the trip tomorrow and hopefully get it back in 2 weeks when we are back in the area for another reason.

Fortunately I still have the 11000 which has the same elephant so I can at least finish the baby quilt.

Either way, you will likely need to see your dealer.

can you please tell me which format a design needs to be when i am trying to get a design to open in the new design app. i have created a dropbox on both computer, and apple ipad i can get it to the ipad but cannot open it
thanks lynn ausie

Wondering which design app you are referring to, Jim says:

Designs in JEF, JEF+ or JPX format can be opened in the AcuEdit app. AcuDesign can open most of the popular formats. Janome machines require JEF, JEF+ or JPX, although the 15000 V2 can also open DST.

Bummed

Barb Engvall

I had an error message a couple of weeks ago in trying to stitch some thick fabric. I still have this same problem...I have been using my 7700 to finish piecing a quilt so have not used the 15000 since then. Today I was excited to find that there is an elephant in the pictographs that would be wonderful for stitching the binding but the same error message again. Embroidery won't work either. Have cleaned bobbin area, changed needle and removed embroidery unit to no avail. Unfortunately my dealer is 2 hours away!

Re: Question: 11000SE stitching quality versus 12000

Hi Lucy:
I already have the 12000 so just looking at a second machine that I can use so I'm not always changing out the plates, feet, etc when going from sewing to embroidery. I love my 12000 and am a happy camper with it.  Since the 11000SE is the closest machine in features that I need, I'm seriously looking at that as my first option.  I know the 11000SE only has a 7mm sewing stitch width and smaller hoops which is not a problem. Also as mentioned by another member it may be easier to take to a class if I have the opportunity to do one.

Many thanks all. It is very helpful to hear personal experiences both good and bad.

Thank you for adding me!

Thank you for adding me to the group.  I am a new owner of the MC 15,000.  I am very excited.  I'm sure I will have lots of questions..however, I'm finding this machine very user friendly.  I upgraded from a Viking Topaz, which I also love and still plan to use.  I do have a few questions on the HorizonLink software and sending files from my PC to my machine...so hopefully, I can get some help here!.  Look forward to learning lots and creating lots of fun projects.

Update for RE18 hoop

Kay Davis

How exactly does one do an update?  My dealer always did them for me when I had the 11000, but from what I'm reading I suppose I can do it myself?  Just don't know what it entails.  TIA, Kay

In one of the groups I'm in, I read someone tell about the Smiling Stitches FSL angels someone was making.

I am wondering if it is this group.

If it is, I am wondering after ordering, how long does it take to get the download?  I usually can download right away, but this time no email or anything was sent after purchase.

I am going to post this on to one other group to see if I get a response there.

Oh, by the way, I have emailed the site and haven't heard back from them.

I have both the 11000 and the 12000. I take the 11000 to class because it is a bit smaller and leave the 12000 set up at home. If you have an option, buy the 12000 or 15000. Why not get the newest model? The 12000 has many features that are improvements over the 11000 in ease of use. Stitch quality I guess is about the same but the extra features on the newer models are certainly nice.

Tho I really like the 12000 (it has been issue-free), I probably would have waited for the 15000 had I known it was coming out so soon.

Re: RE18 Update

Are we going to have to pay for the 12000 update?  I already purchased the RE18 hoop in preparation for the update.  I was assuming we would be able to download update from the Janome site - not go thru the dealers?

Judi

Counting out his pennies, Jim says:
It will be a free download, just as the 15000 update was.

Julia,
I have the 11000 and upgraded it to the SE. I bought the 12000 and am using it. The stitching on both machines is excellent.
Have not had any trouble with either one, if I did it was the user.

If any forum member has used both of these models, can you give me some idea of the stitching quality on both machines? I'd like to add a second machine and was looking at the 11000SE but before I spend time at a dealer, I'd like to get some hands-on feedback from users on their experience. Any particular issues you had with the 11000SE?

Thank you,

Julia if you decide on the 11000SE I have an almost new one for sale.  It's packed in the box like new with everything that came with it.

I can't tell you about the stitch quality because I never used the embroidery function.

Julia I owned the 11,000SE for 3 years and loved, loved the machine.  I never had one bobbin issue nor did I ever have any issues unless it was user error.  I now have the 12,000 and have had it for approx 3 years and would not trade it for the world.  I loved my 11,000 but wanted bigger hoops and that is the reason I have the 12,000.  The 15,000 may have a few more features but the hoops are the same and I would not even consider trading my 12,000 for the 15,000.  I use my machines for hours each day and they just purr along with me.

Whatever you choose I know you will be happy.

Happy Sewing,

Virginia

I had the 11000, upgraded to the SE and now have the 15000........I would never go back to the 11000! I was forever having bobbin tension issues, got through 3 bobbin cases as they kept getting nicks on them. Bobbin thread was always showing through on the front of embroideries. Haven't had any of these issues with the 15000 ( which I believe is very similar to those he (12000) the only thing I probably prefer on the 11000 is the simpler needle threader. Hope that helps.   Judy UK

I've owned both the 11000 and the 15000, and a Kenmore Elite Ergo (made by Janome).  All of them had the same stitch quality.

The updates for the 12000 were released, but only to the dealers. You'll have to wait a little bit longer unless your dealer leaks the links to you!

I don't have the SE as the name suggests but I have the 11000 ver 3 which is the updated machine to be SE comparable...
The stitch quality if the same. I had the 12000 and moved up to the 15000 in Aug.  I found the stitch quality the same on those two as it is on the 11000.

I love the stitch quality on Janome machines; it is very consistent.   I had the 9000, the 10000 and so on..

Stitch quality has always been excellent.

RE18 Update

Lou Ann

I just got an email from my dealer.  They've received word from Janome that the MC12000 update for the 5x7 hoop will be out November 14th.
