Yet another announcement
Jim Stutsman
Diane and I are pleased to announce that the My 12000 app is now available online. This permits our videos to be viewed on a desktop or laptop computer, or many different mobile devices such as tablets or phones. The price is $59.99, the same as the app in the App Store. As with the My 15000 app, we have several free videos so you can confirm that the player works before spending any money. However we realize that a substantial number of people have previously invested in DVDs containing some of those videos and we don't feel it would be fair to charge those users full price. Therefore we have created a special link for existing DVD owners so you can get online access for $5.99, a discount of 90%. The fee structure of our payment processor does not allow us to make online access completely free and the $5.99 fee will help cover the cost of the bandwidth we use to transmit the videos. By upgrading to the online system you will be able to have access to new videos that are not on the DVDs. Here's how to get access to My 12000 online: If you are a NEW user who does not own the DVDs go to my12000.online. There you can view the free videos. There is a Purchase button on the menu bar, and you can also purchase when attempting to view a video that is not free. If you OWN the 12000 DVDs (either one or both) go to my12000.online/dvd. This is a special entry page that will set the price at $5.99. You must enter the email address that you used when purchasing the DVDs. That will be confirmed and you will be able to finalize the purchase. You can only do this process ONCE, so make sure you are ready before clicking the button. You can go to the regular link above to view the free videos in order to confirm that your computer or device will be able to play them, then come back to the discount link. If you have any problems or cannot remember what email you used, please DO NOT POST QUESTIONS ON THIS LIST! There is a special link on the discount page so you can email us directly and we will help. We now return you to your regularly scheduled list.

Re: Patchwork Exercise in Workbook
cas <cas@...>
Thanks. It will go in the “why didn’t I remember that”
section of my brain. It’s a big section, lol! I had to do that every
time with my class machine, it would make a huge mess.
Like David Copperfield,
Diane has a few tricks for the sewing room:
The reason you get the
snarl at the start of the seam is because of the loose thread ends, which tend
to knot up. Before you start do needle-down and needle-up to pull up those loose
ends and hold them until you have taken a couple of
stitches.

Re: Coming attractions - Embroidery Party!
Oh how I wish we would have an Anita/Janome event near Phoenix. It's always Brother with the Dream Machine.
We have the talent (Norma) at our local dealer (Mulqueen's) but Brother must offer better sales support for those parties.

Re: Patchwork Exercise in Workbook
Having a problem loading a design from my stick to my Janome15000, deleted some designs thinking it was overloaded, still will not load. Have already loaded some from this stic same kind of design. Help! Kathy Kmurphy1@... Sent from my iPad
Straining to see your machine from his chair, Jim gives up and puts forth some questions: First, and most importantly, what is happening when you try to open the design? Do you not see it on the screen, even after using the arrows to look in the various folders? Do you get an error message when you touch the design? If so, what is the message? Is this a purchased design? Some designers use software to create JEF designs, and the software doesn't always get it right. In such cases the machine may refuse to even show the design on the screen. Not to pick on Kathy, who is already suffering, but for anyone who needs assistance: "Having a problem" just doesn't give us anything to work with. It's the equivalent of saying "When do I add the eggs?". The number of possibilities is so large that it's pretty much impossible to offer anything constructive. Since our conversations here are more or less one-sided with long pauses in between, the more detail you can provide about a problem, the better the odds of getting useful advice. Unless I'm answering, in which case the term "useful" is pretty doubtful.

Re: Blue and Pink Janome Bobbins
Sue Raabe <susies.stitches@...>
Hi Jane, I'm so sorry about your daughter. I lost my son 3 years ago, and it is truly devastating. I don't remember how I found them, but there's an international organization called Compassionate Friends. It's a support group for parents, grandparents and siblings of the children we have lost. You may already know about them, but by posting this, it may help other parents who are dealing with the loss of a child. I find it comforting to be with people who know how I feel, and understand that everyone grieves differently. There is no judgement or criticism, just people who know how you feel, and are there listen to and support the group members. It's a unique situation where those who haven't experienced that loss can't feel the pain, no matter how they sympathize, and no one wants them to. It's not for everyone, but it's there for anyone who might need some support. Well meaning friends say it's "time to move on", and the group is there to remind us that there is no right or wrong way to feel or act. I have no affiliation, and am not pushing it on anyone. Everyone's experience is unique, and some may prefer not to share anything. I mention it to people only to let them know it exists and is there for anyone. I hope no one is offended by this post; it was only to let people know of one more resource for them if they want it.

Re: Multiple Font Options
Cat - N
SewWhat Pro will use fonts that are installed on your PC, and there are lots of free fonts that can be downloaded. It has a number of options for text, and is not very expensive, plus it does other stuff as well, and has a free trial, too. It will save as a .JEF.

Far from being the fount on font knowledge, Jim chooses the default font to say:
You need to be very careful purchasing font packages, as many of them are designed to be used with specific lettering programs. For example, Monogram Wizard has dozens of fonts, but you can only use them with Monogram Wizard software. This may also be true of Brother packages, although I don't have any brothers, so what do I know? There are two options I can suggest:

Patchwork Exercise in Workbook
cas <cas@...>
I’m still going through the workbook and trying to
learn. I think the directions are incorrect on pg. 56. They tell you
to sew triangles together and the picture is a diamond and it makes more sense
to do the exercise with a diamond. Instead of marking the corner where the
seams meet they draw a line across the width of the diamond. I didn’t
understand the point of that either. The video wouldn’t load and it
says perhaps it has been removed. I know it’s a video for the Clear Foot
but I was hoping they would show the same exercise.
Anyhow, Diane has a lovely directions to piece together a star
using Y seams in the My15000 app, within the Patchwork video, so I did
that.
Is there any trick to not having your thread from balling up
at the beginning of a seam? I usually use a header and footer when I’m
piecing but sometimes you have to start within a piece, like in the above
exercise. I start with needle down. I end up with thread snarls
under the cloth. I use the straight stitch plate and that helps keep the
fabric from going down the hole.
Thanks and happy Spring everyone!

I have bought the blue ones before and I do not think they are the same quality as the clear ones with the "J" stamped on them. I have had 5 or 6 of the blue bobbins break off on one end or the other. I have never had one problem with the clear ones.
