Re: Acusetter App

Is this Acusetter App some thing for the 12000 also? I'm just starting to read about this app and it sounds interesting. Where can I get more info on it if it's appliable to the 12000? I have the clothsetter for the 12000. Is this a replacement? Any info would be nice as I don't want to miss out on something new for the machine. I also have the 11000 too. Thanks! Cathy
Cathy Nystul No, the AcuSetter app is for the 15000 and S9 only. It requires WiFi in the machine. The app uses the camera in the iPad to align the design and then sends the information to the machine for stitching. It is not really a replacement for the Clothsetter, just an alternate way of lining things up.

Re: Acusetter App
I did make up the iPad steadying box as per Jim & Diane's instructions (which you can find in the group file documents).
Here in Australia I just couldn't find a cardboard box with the correct width, which becomes the height, so I had to order a special "wardrobe" packing box. It is super sturdy stuff and I have it all set up with led lights etc ... BUT I just haven't used it yet due to "life stuff" getting in between me & my sewing room, lol! |

Re: GR hoop
Sue Raabe <susies.stitches@...>
Finally, a resolution to the GR hoop situation. I'm not happy that I have to buy another one because a mistake was made somewhere along the line. I took Jim's advice and called Brubaker's. There was a discount for Yahoo members, and free shipping because it was over $75. When I visited their website, there was a promotion code for 15% off your entire purchase. Just thought I'd pass along the information. They replied very quickly, and were quite pleasant and helpful. I'm going to check their site more thoroughly, and try to get what I need from them. Sue |

I just thought I'd share this link to a Janome AcuSetter instructional document:
http://content.janome.com/siteassets/products/software/acusetter/acusetter-instruction.pdf I actually used the instructions IN this document but BEFORE I had read the document. By the time I found this instruction, I had already used AcuSetter to place a design on a striped, knit fabric (baby onsie). I had hooped the onsie, and had put my own 'placement/location marks' (made by drawing arrows with a Sharpie pen on clear 'magic' tape...removed before stitching but after AcuSetter adjustments) on the fabric using rulers as guides. I used clear tape so I could see the fabric through the tape when taking the photo from the iPad and I didn't use any 'steadying' device...meaning the iPad was 'wiggling' a little as I was holding it. My design stitched out as 'exact' as I could detect. I was absolutely thrilled by how easy and 'perfect' it was...being the newbie that I am. Maybe it is just 'beginner's luck' but I found AcuSetter to be incredibly easy even without a single instruction, and I just absolutely love the app...AcuMonitor, too. - Cat |

Jim I have an Elna 920, and I don't have wireless on my sewing machine, but I really like quilt in the Hoop. My question is,can I connect my machine using a usb aire, would this work to pick up the app quilt in the Hoop? Hopefully you say it will work. Liz Sent from my iPad [Keeping hope alive, I hope!] I'm not familiar with USB Aire, but I assume it's a WiFi enabled USB device like the AirStash. We have used AirStash, as well as the SanDisk Wireless devices. As long as you have an app for the device installed in your iPad it should work. You can also use iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive to transfer designs to a computer, and from there to a USB drive. We have the designed the app to work with all machines having a compatible hoop size, not just the 3 Janome models that have WiFi. The app has built-in help screens explaining how to transfer designs step by step. |

Re: Garble in Messages
Sue Raabe <susies.stitches@...>
I've always wondered the same thing. It's especially frustrating if it isn't deleted before replying/ Just having on the page twice seems like it takes up half the potential message space. Since I don't have Word on my computer anymore, is it safe to assume that I'm not contributing to the problem? I'm hoping someone out there has any suggestions about the ongoing saga of getting 2 outer hoops with the 12000, and no inner hoops. My dealer responded to my question, and said nothing can be done. Now it seems like I'm short a hoop. When I sell the 12000, either I have to give up mine that came with the 15000, or buy another one to go with the 12000. I could some guidance. I have a feeling it would be extremely hard to find one at a discount. It seems like I either have to pay list price for one, or discount the price of the 12000 to compensate, unless anyone has any ideas. I'm so tired of the obstacles there have been trying to sell the 12000, even though this last one wasn't my fault. It seems like the longer I keep the older one, the less it will be worth, especially if a newer model comes out that's comparable (and better). Thanks for any suggestions. You're probably more tired of hearing about this than I am trying to get this over with one way or another. Sue [Hoop springs eternal!] There is no getting around buying the complete hoop. Janome simply does not sell the component pieces. Talk to Amy at Brubaker Sewing (+1-717-354-8332) and explain your problem. Mention that you were referred by the list. She will have to order the hoop for you, and there will be shipping, but she may be able to give you a better price than your dealer. |

Here is the link to the video I learned from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InfjxCTT_K4 I watched it many times as the young gal presenting talks very fast, so to try to “do” as she is explaining is difficult, and I somehow can never find the “pause” when I need it. There are others on YouTube as well. I know that Diane’s will be much better when she has it ready. Cheryl - Saskatoon |

Re: Acusetter App

Hi Sue,
When I smartened up and watched a couple of videos on YouTube about the AcuSetter, and followed the directions, it worked like a charm. I didn’t build the box that Diane used and my hands were not steady in taking the photo, but that didn’t seem to matter. I decided on what I thought was “good enough” and snapped the photo. I then did the adjustments suggested and WOW, magic happened. It isn’t difficult, but I do know I’ll have to watch that video again when I need to use it the next time. The process is foreign to my brain, so repetition is the only key to my complete (or close to complete) understanding of new things. Missing Something
cnystul in Mn.
I am apparently missing information about the Aqua App. I have the 12000 and is this something for that machine? Thanks! Cathy [Aqua App? I'm missing information about that as well.] Maybe you meant AcuDesign. It's actually a pretty good app with a lot of tools for working with designs. The user interface is a bit clunky and it has some very annoying aspects, like listing tons of designs for sale intermingled with your own. Most 15000 owners got it free, but it's available for purchase for $50. The letter module is another $50 no matter how you got it. It is useful for a lot of embroidery models, including the 12000. Since your machine does not have WiFi you will need to use Dropbox to import and export designs. |

Downloading free designs from janome to acudesign
quiltdiva7 <no_reply@...>
Ji m When trying to send one of the free designs on Janome website to Acudesign design I get the message my directory is empty. How do I correct this. Thank you Mnicol59@... [How indeed?] Sadly email is a frustratingly slow way to play 20 questions, so I'm going to formulate an answer based on guesses. First guess is that you are attempting to send the design to AcuDesign on your iPad using Dropbox. If you do that AcuDesign looks only in the Artistic folder/directory inside the Apps folder in your Dropbox. If you put the design anywhere else it will not be seen. Before you invest any time, thread, or fabric on the Janome free designs I would strongly suggest you view them with the stitch simulator in AcuDesign. Like most of us, I was told by my mother "If you can't say anything nice...", and I'm risking Mom haunting me by saying anything more. Instead of "Created by" naming a person, it should list the model number of the computer used to create it and a second line should say "Auto-digitizing option clicked by" with the person's name. Starting with the Memory Craft 8000 cards, Janome has produced some amazingly detailed and exquisite embroidery. These are neither, though the second one is aptly named. I fear I've said too much already - sorry Mom! |

Garble in Messages
Cheryl Paul
Hi Jim, Is it my computer or does everyone get garble in their messages? I get things like this: blockquote, div.yahoo_quoted { margin-left: 0 !important; border-left:1px #715FFA solid !important; padding-left:1ex !important; background-color:white !important; } Then at the end of some messages there will be similar stuff only MUCH more and it seems that there is a message intermingled in it, that would be like reading "code" if one wants to spend the time to go through the maze. Thanks for any explanation that you can give to shed light on this stuff is appreciated. Cheryl - Saskatoon [Apparently you don't have the Secret Decoder Ring from the box of Cap'n Crunch!] What you are seeing actually is code, called HTML (Hyper-Text Markup Language). It's the stuff from which web pages are made. One potential source is folks who have configured their email to use Microsoft Word for editing emails. Word is astoundingly awful at this and generates tons of code for each email. I once saw over 25k of HTML for TWO WORDS of text! Yahoo attempts to deal with it, but sometimes it's just so convoluted that it cannot be stripped out. There may be other email programs that similarly add HTML, and the cute little widgets that you can download to decorate your email also add a lot of similar junk. (They are free because they share your email address with advertisers. Remember, on the Internet if you cannot see the obvious product - it's YOU!) All that trash is especially frustrating for me, because it saves me time to respond to a post in the original text as I approve it. When a message is loaded with HTML when I try to save it Yahoo says "There was an error saving the text." I can't even edit it, so if you see a post that has 47 replies hanging on it and it's all formatted with large text in a fancy font, know that I tried to trim it, but Yahoo refused to let me. So though it is annoying, the rubbish in email text is the price we pay for using this free service. That, and the ads that show up in text and pictures on the site. |

Quilt in the hoop Facebook
judy.j282@...
Hi Jim and Diane I am planning to buy your new app....looks brilliant. I have joined your face book group but I see it's a "public" group. I usually only join private groups as I'm not sure who can see my post on a public group. I know on closed groups it's only those who are members of the group who can see anything posted. If I post will my "friends" see the post or just the groups members? Hope the question makes sense! Thank you for all your hard work. Judy, UK [Good question!] Actually I initially created it as private, and only changed it to public so as not to have to approve new members. Turns out I still need to approve members (Can you tell I don't use Facebook much?), so I've changed it back to private. This will keep your posts private to group members only. Thanks for considering our app! |
