Re: Anyone have problem with the update for the 15000?
Barb Engvall
Mine is just coming back to the store from the repair shop and they will do the update on Monday and I will pick it up on Wednesday. Based on some of these reports I think I will take the embroidery unit with me to make sure that it works ok since I am 2 hours over a now snowy mountain pass to get back to them! Appreciate the feedback!

Re: 15000 update

I had my 15000 updated and I bought the upgrade package. I went on a quilting retreat last weekend and sewed for hours with out any problems. The needle threader worked every time.

I used continuous quilting designs with my embroidery unit on a quilt and it worked wonderfully. The quilt was pieced by someone else in the quilt guild and the blocks were pieced, appliquéd and some embellishment but the embroidery machine created great quilting designs in each block. I did some walking foot quilting and a lot of piecing with the quarter inch foot. I haven’t tried out Horizon Link Suite yet but I did update it from the file that Janome emailed me after the tech at the shop called them to register my machine as updated. My tech also said his workbench looked like a snowstorm after cleaning my machine, I did warn him that I had been sewing a lot of flannel recently. So far I am a happy camper. I do know that there will come a time when I can’t haul the 15000 around but for now I rather sew on it more than my Skyline 7 which is a good machine or my old Pfaff. Happy stitching, Estelle

Re: 15000 update

I seem to have the absolute biggest problem known to Janome regarding the software update. The Janome tech has spent hours and I do mean hours (10+) with me and between the two of us we are onto the problem but absolutely no one seems to be able to fix it. The tech is great in every way but the problem is now back on the laps of those in Tokyo for the third time. Yes, the third go round. We have tried everything imaginable that is known to man (except the one that would fix it). It has been several weeks now since my machine was upgraded but alas, I have no Horizon Link software, the original program is gone from my PC and not even the original CD will install for us. This is a registry error and it just gets deeper after that, lol. Sure praying for a resolution soon. The tech did email me today that she now has "customer #2" with this same problem and back to Tokyo again, looking for answers. Thanks for sharing with us. I hope more people let us know how it’s going. My dealer hasn’t gotten the parts yet, so I’m still waiting. My old needle threader is still working, but I had to take it to the shop several times before they fixed it. Cas

Re: Machine freezing
Sue Raabe <susies.stitches@...>
Thank you for saving me from all sorts of imagined ills and remedies! The dealer is preparing for his semi annual sale, so I will take it in Wednesday morning. I don’t mind waiting, since I know it will be in good hands. After the update, the needle threader works perfectly. Before, I needed to leave a little tail for it to work, and after reading about all the problems, was happy that way. The dealer had to convince me to change it! I cut it with the thread cutter, and it’s perfect. This is my 4th Janome, and have been happy with all of them. My dealer is more than fair, so I never have to question his recommendations. The only drawback to the 15000 is it’s weight. Even taking it in for service is difficult, hence my purchase of the S9! Still heavy for me, but manageable. After this though, no more letting anyone sew over pins ☺️ Sue Raabe

That happens here too. After the vibration it sometimes works. If I use it soon after it usually behaves doesn’t complain and works.

My S 9 was floor model. I had those freezes and locked up and lower feed dogs etc errors. I discovered thread caught inside cover. Tech thinks timing got knocked out of wack due to the thread. I bet you have similar from running over the pin.

Maria Morrow <mariamorrowquilter@...>
Same story for me. It worked at the dealer and quit about the third time at home. I let it sit a few days and today tried it again. This time it made horrible sounds and vibrations and just got stuck. A message said “raise needle and turn machine off and back on. I did it theee times and nothing helped. Wish I had not gotten the “update” either. Janome has “a lot of splainin” to do.

turns out there was a snag of thread up in there that I could not get to, I took it in and the tech fixed it very easily.. So glad it was not a sensor!

I didn’t get a CD either. Contacted the email address at the bottom of email with update links. Waiting to hear.
My dealer wanted to charge $200 and I asked about the information on Facebook stating the cost is $149. They said it was an introductory (special) price but would get it to me since I asked. Maybe say something to you dealer. Sent from my iPad

New manual and question about reference card
Ceil J
I posted this in the Facebook group but know that a lot don't do Facebook so I'm adding it here.
I'm wondering if there will be a way to obtain the new reference chart for the top cover so that those of us with V1 or V2 can have the updated patterns shown on our machines. Janome is probably very busy now as there have been several glitches it seems with the update. I had the new manual V3 printed out (in black and white) and decided to go through it page by page to note any differences. While I haven’t gone through it word for word, here are the ones I found so far. I stopped, for now, at page 133. Some changes seem to be there to better clarify while some show a new feature The page number refers to the page in the new manual. I hope this helps someone. p.33 Shows foot SD p. 34 Foot HP p. 35 Pintucking U4 using Blindhem foot G p. 38 Adjusting the number of locking stitches p. 39 Clearer photo showing how to get the favorite stitch p. 42 Adds stitch U24 to Shelltuck p. 43 Takes away U24 from Fagotting p. 59 Notes 147 decorative stitches instead of 140 p. 61 Describes using the O foot that does not have the guide and describes the angle scales on the needle plate (I think this information is in the workbook) p. 65 Shows different reference chart on the top cover of the V3 machine p. 69-73 Directions on tapering p. 75 Clearer information on thread tension adjustment p. 90 More detail on gathering p. 97 Ruler work p. 101 Clean bobbin holder message p. 116 Different illustration for bobbin winding while embroidering p. 128 Color list key- shows number of stitches for each color p. 129 Trace key (adds a note) p. 130 Custom trace key p. 132 Embroidery foot key- foot height and speed adjusted when you select the foot being used

Re: Anyone have problem with the update for the 15000?
babsaroo
Took the machine in to be repaired. Looks like it is a problem with the update because the machine was a version 1. I bought it when they first came out and only did one update. I guess there were special instructions for starting at level 1 and they didn’t get noticed. Once I used the embroidery unit it stopped working. Software will be reinstalled and hopefully I will get it tomorrow.
