Question about MC 14000

J Fraker

I currently have the 12000 which I'm very happy with.  I found a really good deal on a 14000.  Can anyone who has had both tell me if it worth moving up to the new machine?

Forgot to add: if you have the 15000, you can corner by pressing the corner button - see the manual.

Re: Applique

Instead of zigzag, why don't you use the applique stitch/blanket stitch?

You may want to secure your Applique piece ( like a drop or two of glue or use a glue stick,)

Life's biggest decision is what you do with Jesus.

Use quality thread. All threads don’t glide the same way.

Practice on scrap.

Go slowly.

Make notes of threads and stitch width and length you like.

Accept the fact that perfection is not achievable. Really good IS achievable.

Are you using a 15000?  There is an app that has the specific settings.  Clicking that B button really helps when cornering.  Setting the pivot option is optimal when appliquéing.  Your needle holds the fabric in place while you’re moving the fabric around.

I am new to applique and would like any tips for a beginner.

I have the right foot on and have the zigzag stitch.

Am stitching on cotton fabric, have the fabric ironed on.

Do I just practice or is there a right or wrong way to begin??

Thank you for your help

I was never able to use the leg lever with my 6600. Soon as they came out with the adjustable style on newer machines I bought it and put it on my 6600. I had to remove a decorative strip of wood from the table to be able to put it in but now I can use it. My S9 cane with the adjustable one.

Does anyone know what the most resent version is available for My 15000 app? I have Version 1.4.1(14)-10. Is that the latest? If not, how do I do the update? Also, my FootBook app is version 4.0.6(7)-8. Trying to stay up to date on all my sewing app. Thank you all, Pam in Central NY. Sent from my iPad

Your "My 15000" is current. FootBook is a little newer, but I will be releasing an update shortly so there is no need to do anything right now.

Re: Needle threader

I used to leave about 3” dangling when threading, but found it works better to leave about 4” of thread dangling.  This mechanism must pull the thread further.  You could also try pulling some so it’s loose up by the spool.

I still find it threads well with the dangling thread instead of putting it in the thread cutter.

Thanks Jim, I’m going to go view them now.  J

Btw I have an ipad Mini 2 and it is updated to Version 11.0.3

I don’t know if it’s supported but it seems to work ok.  I have model PG972LL/A

Wow, there’s a lot of new stuff in the My 15000 app since I last used my ipad.

Thanks for all the help for us.

Re: 15000 upgrade

This topic got on with the threader issue because I was not able to start a new topic. My dealer has the same problem with the knee lifter (the thing that raises the presser foot with your knee). We can not reach it comfortably without stretching,  so she asked me to see if any of you have any tricks/suggestions.

By the way, Jim, she sings your praises and is telling all her customers how informative your apps are.

I'm not quite sure how this topic got into this thread but as for the presser foot lifter being in an odd place. Have you tried the knee lifter? It sounds like that is what you are looking for "an extra hand" I used to use it all the time but now that I have my machine on top of my sewing table (for embroidery) and not inside sometimes I just have to use the button or reach behind.

Thanks Carolyn,

I’ll call and remind them …. Again.

The HLS link should be instant when the dealer registers you. I waited two weeks before mentioning it to rep and she admitted she was not sure the original went through...some problems! She registered me while I was at store and the link came through then.

I gave up using mine because it’s so hard to reach.  Some people put a pool noodle on it.  I attached a board with a pad to it, but this won’t work with the desk the machine is in now.

Thanks, Jim, for such good maintenance on the apps. They are such good assets for us. I love my FootBook and 15000 app, even tho I’m selling my 15000 now, I still can use the apps for my other Janome’s.
I really appreciate your and your lovely wife’s dedication to making all of our Janome lives better!

Re: Needle threader

No you are not. Mine was fine before the upgrade and is not working so well now. The dealer did ask if I was using Aurifil thread (which I do) and suggested I take the spool cap (holds the spool on the spindle) off while threading then put it back on to sew. I also have to raise the needle manually to get the threader to work.

I just saw pics by Sewinggin.  Another bag, it’s so pretty!  What pattern is that?

Btw  please my crooked sewing on the wallet.  I ruined my strategical use of the gold strip found along a yard of cork by sewing a crooked line right through it,  LOL!  Oh well, the wallet is hidden inside the purse.

Thank you Estelle.  I love learning from other Janome users too, so share tips when I can think of them.
