Re: thread question- please help

Virginia

I have done many quilts doing quilt as you go and there ate many different ways to finish them. As far as your thread goes again I have used prewounds wound my own. Used both embroidery thread regular sewing thread snd used 3e0wt in the top and normal in the bobin all matching colors and also. Much of it depends on your machine and what thread it likes. I never adjust or touch my tensions and have always had success. It is just trial and error till you get it right.

Subject: [janome12000] thread question- please help

I tried asking this question on Facebook but didn't really get the help  I need.
I want to piece a block in the hoop, then put the backing on the underside of the hoop to do Quilt as You Go, and then do the embroidery while the block is still in the hoop.  As I want to do an entire quilt with the same color thread, I'd like to know what thread I should use for the piecing/embroidery/bobbin or if I can use all the same thread for all of it.  I looked at Superior Threads but they didn't seem to have the light color I wanted except in Bottom Line (I have a small spool of that in color 620 which works well) but they don't have prewound bobbins in class 15 in the color I need and I'm confused by their many #40 wt poly.  If I could just buy one thread that would be great but I don't want a tension problem and I want the top and bottom to look nice (of course).  Please, and help would be appreciated.

Jim, did you know Yahoo stopped supporting yahoo groups back in 2014, and Verizon doesn't appear to want to take them on. I've reluctantly started a new one on groups@io. What is so aggravating is Yahoo didn't inform anyone which has meant many groups have been left high and dry as owners can't access them.

Clearly I need to spend less time making software and more time following Yahoo, although Yahoo has given me a wealth of reasons to detest them. Many thanks for the heads-up.

To all members: We will begin taking steps immediately to move the group to groups.io. You can visit that page now to see the advantages that it offers over Yahoo. For now you don't need to do anything. Once the transfer is ready to begin I will email all members with further instructions.

Once again, Maggie, I owe you one!

Re: Free motion foot

Gail

So does that also mean that I can use my new Ruler foot I got with the 15000 upgrade on my 9400?  That would be awesome!
Gail

The foot will fit, but the machine software will not have it available as a choice. You may have to experiment to find the right settings. Before stitching with it turn the hand wheel through a few stitches to confirm that the needle is properly lined up.

Free motion foot

Gail

I have the 15000 an the 9400.  I bought the QB S free motion convertible foot for the 15000.  Can I use this on the 9400?  Both are 9mm high shank machines.

Gail in FL

Yes, QB-S should be fine on both machines, although the new feet for the 15000 Quilt Maker Upgrade pretty much eliminate the need for it on the 15000.

For some reason I can’t open the files🤔

The link was sent by Yahoo, not me. As happens so often with Yahoo, things that should work just don't. Do this:

1. Click this link: Files

2. On the files page click the "iPad Wallpaper" folder to open it.

3. Click the file you want to download.

MC12000 Cloth Guide

Meryl Margolies

Happy holidays to you all. I hope it’s been everything you wished for.

I am trying to attach the CLOTH GUIDE to my 12000. I can’t seem to get it to attach. The guide is too high and won’t go into the hole. What am I doing wrong? If you have a quick answer, please email me at merylm5276@... or message me on Facebook.

Thank you.

The Cloth Guide attaches to the carriage in the same way as the embroidery hoops. Refer to page 36 in the instruction book. If the center pin won't go into the center hole, and the knob is in the proper position for attaching, there may be a burr on either the pin or the edge of the hole. If you can see or feel roughness try buffing it with an emery board or VERY fine sandpaper. You might also try apply a very small amount of something like Vaseline. This normally should not be a problem unless you are also having trouble attaching the hoops. In that case it's probably the attaching plate on the carriage and you may need to see your dealer for help.

Thank you so much!!!!  The pictures are perfect.  I purchased the 12.9 inch model so I guess that's the one I'll use.  Merry Christmas to all.

new Ipad

William D Lawson

Good morning Jim and group.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!!!!!  May you all have a blessed and peaceful holiday, and a marvelous New Near!!!  I love this group.  Everyone is so positive and helpful.  Thank you.

I did it!!!!  I went on Amazon and purchased a new Ipad.  I am NOT an "Apple Girl".  I may need baby step by baby step instructions on how to get all my Janome apps onto the Pad when I receive it on Thursday.  I just have one question now.  Will I be able to get the picture of the 15000 as my screen saver?  I received my original Ipad from Janome and it already had the picture on it.  I kind of like that.  :-)

(Is there anyone in this group who lives close to me???  I would LOVE to get together and share our knowledge with this machine in person.  I know that I am not utilizing all of the features of the machine and IPad.)

Merry Christmas to all,

Gwen

Lafayette, Indiana

Because of the way that the wallpaper images are stored in an iPad, it requires a lot of specialized software to extract them for use on a new one. If you backup your old iPad first, then restore it to the new one, you will inherit the existing image. However the image on your old iPad (guessing it's an iPad 2) will be very low resolution and will look really bad on your nice new one. I have added 3 iPad wallpaper files to the Files section, set in very high resolution for the various flavors of iPad. Choose the one for your iPad model and use the Settings app -> Wallpaper option.

Design Transfer to MC12000

Meryl Margolies

Long story short: for several reasons, I haven't used my machine in months. We're in a 4-month temporary rental, and I got my machine set up yesterday. My machine is not near my computer, so I have to rely on flash drive to move designs from computer to machine. I have the latest version of MBX. I have no problems getting the designs onto the stick. How do I get them onto the machine or do I need to work directly from the flash drive?

Thank you for your help.

Happy holidays to all.

Once the designs are on the flash drive you just plug it into the machine. Use the open icon to open designs on the flash drive. See page 131 in the manual.

Re: Editing an embroidery design as it is sewing

Cynthia Dickerson

I did forget about the yellow dot bobbin.  I was sewing with Janome and other thread companies, so I should of changed this.  I am not sure when you say to change the needle tension, exactly where I do this.  Do I have to go into AcuEdit for this?

Do you sew?  Please visit my blog at www.cynsew.com for tutorials.

Needle thread tension is adjusted in the Embroidery SET screen. See page 152 (V2 machine or earlier) or 162 (V3 Quilt Maker manual). By pressing the minus (-) key you can reduce the needle tension. One click should do it.

Thanx for that Pam, I wondered what I should do about a stylus to try AcuSketch, Merry Xmas from Australia ... 🎉🍒💞🎄

Re: Interesting article on update to Acusketch

Pam,
That seems pretty reasonable.  I was expecting it to be about twice that although I got a set of two stylus (i?) pens on Amazon for about that.  They had extra tips so they must wear out or something.  What I really need is a way to ensure a straight line when I draw.  I tried using a ruler but it just made the screen zoom in or out.  Acusketch has a lot of potential but not for those of us who can't even trace something (I've tried).  But I'm getting better at curvy lines so that may what I focus on.  I'd like to be able to take a picture of my pieced block then draw something for the machine to quilt.
Thanks for letting us know that the pens are available.
