Carole you can leave the HL for the 12000 installed, as the new software is called Horizon Link Suite. However if you want to uninstall it to get the space back just click START in Windows, then in the Search box type "uninstall". One of the choices in the list will be "Uninstall a program". Click that. Then scroll down to find Horizon Link in the installed program list and click it. Finally click the "Uninstall" button at the top of that window.

I have just traded up my 12000 for the 15000 (yesterday). I have HL and Acufil installed on my PC for the 12000. Do I need to uninstall the HL/Acufil before I install the new software for the 15000? If so, how do I do that???

Footbook - a thank you

Jim and Diane saved my sanity this morning when I was struggling to make a narrow rolled hem. I looked up what to do on Footbook and the method shown for getting started worked wonderfully. I have now ordered some extra hemming feet as well so that other widths are possible. This foot has been used very seldom in the past but I will now feel more confident about using it and can see that it will save me time on several regular sewing jobs. What a wonderful resource you have provided. Thank you very much.

I’m interested. I’ve had my machine 5 months and my dealer went out of business the week before Christmas. I have so much I want to learn. Seeing questions from others is always helpful.

A recurring feature of Reddit, which likely only a few of you know, is the AMA - Ask Me Anything. Reddit AMAs are done with celebrities answering the questions of the live attendees. I don't have access to any celebrities, but I thought we might kick off 2019 with a chat amongst members. If a dozen or more list members voice interest via replies I will put up a chat on January 1, at 3pm CST. Since our group is global I'm thinking that's a time that will be more or less civilized (with the possible exception of Aussies nursing hangovers):
4pm EST, 2pm MST, 1pm PST, 9pm in London, and 8am on January 2 in Sydney. There will be no agenda, just questions, answers, and general conversation. Hopefully it will be a fun departure from the norm. If enough people are interested I will post a confirmation. Thanks and Happy New Year! |

The cable connection has a special plug at the machine - it isn’t the same shape as a regular USB on one end and a regular USB on the connection that goes into the computer.
Most embroidery machines after the 11000 are capable of using a USB Stick for design transfer, but if there isn’t a cable with the machine that has a square connector at one end and a regular USB connection at the opposite, you won’t likely have the option to transfer designs directly from the computer to the embroidery/sewing machine. Check your manual for all the parts that are included with your machine - that will give you the best clue as to what you can do for design transfer, etc. Stitch count for embroidery also varies. The 15000 was the first machine to have a maximum of 200,000 stitches or maybe the 9900 - but the 12000 could only handle designs that were less than 100,000 stitches, which annoyed some folks I know at the time they discovered that fact. Then they were further annoyed when they found out that there was NO WAY that Janome could expand that with an upgrade. However, you’d need the patience of Job to want to stitch out designs with that many stitches. Cheryl - Saskatoon |
