My S9 is new and I have not yet tried to do the WiFi setup yet.  However, the file structure on the USB drives appears to be the same as the 15000.

When you first format the USB in the sewing machine, it will create the EMB and EMBF folder structure.  Then you will need to put individuals designs in the EMBF folder but you can create other folders under EMB and put designs in them as well.

If you look at the messages archive on the list site and search “folder” it will bring up relevant messages like this one...

There are 2 needleplates that come with 15000! Regular sewing- bigger hole for zigzag and the straight stitch plate- one small hole!
Yes you can embroidery with regular plate but
Stitches better when using straight stitch plate!!

It sounds like the needle plate sensor may need adjusting. However you should check that area in the back right corner of where the needle plate sits. Clean out lint or debris, if any. Also make sure you press the circle on the plate when installing. It requires a bit of muscle to seat it fully.

First embroidery project begun on my new-to-me 15,000-- followed the directions in manual to get ready and used designs in the machine. I changed the needle plate to single needle and got message on screen telling me wrong plate is installed.  Took out and reinserted several times, turned machine off and on, re-read directions, substituted my 12,000 single needle plate, and same message appears.  Frustrated, just used the regular sewingplate and embroidered a project which turned out OK.
Does this problem have a 'at home' solution?  Closest Janome dealer is 5 hour drive one way. (not a minute of exaggeration). 
Is it OK to continue to use the sewing plate for embroidery or was I very lucky my fairy godmother was watching over me for this first project? approx 33,000 stitches.
It was updated by previous owner to Quiltmaker version 3.00.
Is there an archive of FAQ's?

Jim, V5 will handle the icons, BUT you’re correct that what happened is the most recent software installed that also had that ability to show icons broke the MBX ability. It happened to me too when I ran a trial of Sewiconz.
The only fix is to notify JAI support and they can work with you and even possibly call in Wilcom to assist. Some changes to the Run and Command functions of your computer need to be reset.
At one time I uploaded the instructions to the old 12 and 15000 Yahoo! Group, but they didn’t get saved when the group moved over to.io online sewing, and unfortunately I can’t find my file either.

Thank you.  I will contact them.  My dealer called me back and said they were told the update had not been released yet and they would let me know when it was.  Has anyone on here been able to get it and if so can it be shared or is it specific to only one machine?

If you mean for the Horizon Link yes zjanome can help. I had to contact them for that and the code for the ipad apps for my 15000.

The WiFi allows you to connect an iPad to the machine using apps like AcuEdit and AcuDesign. You can also use it to connect your computer to the machine as an alternative to USB.

If your dealer did the update to the machine, then you are in the US or Canada. In those regions the dealer is responsible for sending your email to Janome, who will in turn send you a link to download the 1.3 update to Horizon Link Suite. This normally happens quickly *IF* your dealer did that. Check with your dealer to make sure.

I have the problem with the icons as welll and have no other programs installed believe this started with one of the Windows updates in late summer.  Very frustrating.  Keep hoping there will be an update for V 5 to address this issue.

Thanks Jim-- V5 has an online manual that gives pretty specific directions on how to make the thumbnails show, and I've followed them but the thumbnails still don't show.  For several years I've had Embird loaded along with Digitizer and it all worked fine, till it didn't. I uninstalled Embird in hopes that would fix the problem, but it didn't.  Now I'm wondering if my Buzz Tools upgrade is what messed up everything.  Maybe someone on the list has had the same problem and can share how they fixed it......Thank you again for replying to my plea for help!
