Thanks Jim, I always liked the moderation.  I liked when your text was red too.  Is that still possible?

Thanks for your caution, and I‘m sorry for the extra efforts you‘ll have moderating each post.

A shame that the bad guys are dictating the rules so often...

This morning a message was posted from a member, or from a site pretending to be a member, supposedly containing a document from Microsoft One Drive. The link to open the document was to a site containing malware. If you receive this post please delete it immediately. I have deleted it from the group, as well as turned on moderation. That means it will take a little longer for posts to appear, because I'll have to review each one. I'd hoped to avoid that, but this is the Internet we have to live with now. If by chance you have already read the post AND clicked the link please use your anti-virus software to check for problems.

I'd hoped that we'd have a little more rigorous filtering here than on Yahoo, but the bad guys are very clever at avoiding such things. I'm sorry I didn't go moderated from the start - I really hoped we were over that!

Hi Randi - the newest update to the 15K is to update the machine to the newest 15K, which includes replacing the needle threader.  It's free and is done at the dealer's in the U.S.  Contact your dealer and ask them about taking your machine in for the update.

Good to hear from you - I took a class from you several years ago.  Dottie in Texas

The upgrade is “free”.

There is also a Quiltmaker  kit you can purchase from your dealer http://www.sewvacdirect.com/janome-memory-craft-15000-quilt-maker-accessory-upgrade-kit/. This kit lists for $199 but dealer discounts are usually applied.  I have found the 1/4 inch foot and the open foot very useful.

Hope this clarifies the whole upgrade issue.

Thanks for the suggestions to get my 12000 working. This group is great.  We are setting up sewing and craft room today.  I really want to get some sewing done.  It is sad that the only Janome dealer around here can't offer suggestions.

Randi you have to take your machine for the upgrade. It is a new upgrade so chances are you do not have it. When ypu get the upgrade you receive new feet if this helps you to remember. When you tirn the machine the scteen shows Quiltmaker.

I haven't used it much in the last 6 months, I have been doing a lot of hand applique and piecing using my faithful 6500. Also got an Artistic S/D that I have been learning on my own so just have not got to my 15000.

Read your manual about calibrating the hoop.

Thanks for that ... I can see the fit to hoop button but not a centering button ...?

i just checked the SQ14 hoop again & yes it’s own plastic template does line up with the plastic notches for Centering.  But when you fit a design to the hoop in AcuDesign it shows the blue Center crosshairs as about a centimetre below the notches ... yahhh, wish I had a “tear hair” emoticon!

Your dealer notifies Janome that your update is done then Janome sends you a link for the update

I had my 15000 updated in December.   I am just getting around to Horizon Link.   Was I supposed to get a CD to update to 1.3?   I was kind of following the conversations and thought I could download update.   I don’t see an update online.   Thanks Janet

Re: 12000

mine started doing that, too.  tried changing out footpedals but that didn’t help.  cleaning & reseating the needle plate only worked for a little while.  I finally loosened the screw slightly on the little plastic piece underneath the needle plate (the one that contacts the sensor when you pop it into place) & placed 2-3 layers of plain paper underneath it before tightening the screw back down.  I’m guessing that the plastic just wears a microscopic bit over time, causing the problem.  I’ve had no recurrence of the error since I did that.  Saved me an hour drive & leaving machine to be fixed & cost me nothing.

hope that helps,

Marsha

Susan,    This strange remedy worked for me:  I discovered that my 12000 was not level.  I put the level on the bed and put different things under the left side until the bubble was in the middle of the level.  The ideal tool turned out to be a register, like you put over a heat/cool access vent.... without the attached vents.  I haven't gotten the "check the foot" message since I did this.

Re: After the Update

cas <cassweet@...>

I quilted a fairly heavy purse before I updated. Sometimes going through 8
seams. It worked fine until I couldn't fit the purse under the body of the
machine. Then I had to get my older Janome out so I could wrap the purse
around the top of it.

Re: After the Update

I was always to afraid to use for bulk sewing like heavy purses. I bought another brand for that. One that is more mechanical less complicated just in case. I do use it for quilting though and it works fine.

The only thing I've noticed is it seems the machine can no longer handle bulk at all. I quilt and it has a hard time going over seams. It just sews in place. I kind of have to push the fabric to get it started. It does this at the beginning of some fabrics when there isn't even a seam. I didn't notice this prior to the update. I'm not sure if it's only when I use the HP foot and plate.

I noticed it when I was sewing a knit gown as well.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I did notice the HP foot is great for paper pieced blocks. It's easy to see your lines.
