Changing the Millimeters to inches in the horizon link software

Can someone please tell me if you can change the millimeters to  inches  in the horizon link software?  The software that came with the Janome 15000.

Janome Institute is a conference for Janome dealers. It is used for dealer training, as well as to introduce new models. Only dealers and their employees can attend.

If a new machine comes out to replace the 15000, I hope it can use same feet from 15000. I have several I have bought to accompany my machine. A camera would be nice but how much would it cost? Baby Lock has a machine with a camera but it it way above my budget.

Since I just sank all of my disposable income on a longarm quilter, I’m figuring they will launch a new top of the line embroidery machine. 😊
Seems like Janome is the only company that does not have a camera for placement.

Not that I'm aware of. All of the lists seem to be quiet right now. With the arrival of spring, gardening may be pulling people away. The end of the school year is also approaching. Here in north Texas we are experiencing endless rain, which impacts a lot of things.

Janome Institute will be happening in Atlanta from August 21-25. Anyone care to speculate on what's coming?

Virginia, I have to confess I have the app, but I’ve never used it. 😊 I learned placement using the clothsetter and I have great success.

Thanks to Jim and everyone for help and suggestions about the loss of my .pdfs.  Haven’t been able to retrieve them, despite working through lots of suggestions.  From now on anything worth anything will be on my external hard drive and backed up elsewhere just to make sure.

Thanks again,

Lynne

It doesn't matter what you store you documents on, all types of storage are subject to fail. Backup is critical: http://onlinesewing.com/Backup321.pdf

I am in the habit of storing everything on a thumb drive (flash drive). I am afraid of losing anything I have. Good luck. I’m sorry you lost everything.  That is so frustrating.

I do trust iCloud, but then I have never been burned. I also keep a lot of PDFs, books manuals, tip sheets, and patterns in the iBooks app. I get them from all different sources. Some I create in a app called “to PDF”. Everything that is not easily accessible as a download online, I back up to Dropbox which puts it on my PC, and then I regularly back up my Dropbox again to a couple of different places on my home network. It may be redundant but these files are like gold to me. I do pay an annual fee for Dropbox storage but I feel it’s a worthwhile expense.

I started using iAnnotate App a few years ago for PDFs.   Save on my IPad if use a lot. Save on One Drive for everything.   I also on occasion backup certain key files I love to my laptop just for extra.

Very seldom do I use IBooks for PDFs.  Had a problem a few years ago when I had to send in my iPad for repair.  I thought I had everything saves to cloud but did not I guess.

Most of the books I buy are from Amazon or from library which uses Kindle app so I use that app for most books.

We feel your pain. Diane had the same thing happen to her when Apple did an update that replaced the original iBooks app with a new app, Books. By logging out of Books and then back in we were able to recover a few of her PDFs, but not all of them. It pains me to see Apple transitioning from a company that went to extraordinary lengths to please their customers to a typical corporation with the goal of making money for the stockholders. Software quality has degraded, and new products are lacking the "wow" factor that Steve Jobs was so good at producing. I continue to buy Apple, not because it's the best, but only because it's the least bad.

We do welcome you to our group. You may find some of your missing documents in the "Files" section of this list. While I have counseled people in the past to store PDFs in Books, that is not as dependable as it used to be. The fact is that all "cloud" storage is risky, not just from loss, but from discontinuation of the service. Google has been notoriously bad at this, with a high percentage of their wonderful new free services being dropped with little warning. We have a couple of decades worth of business documents stored as PDF on a local hard drive. There is a mirror image backup of that drive, and the drive is also kept backed up with BackBlaze on a nightly basis. So far this has proven to be safe and reliable, with the only cost being two 4TB external drives. I've had to replace one, but having two levels of backup means nothing is lost.

If you find you need something that is missing, please mention it here. Among the members of this list I'm sure we have a ton of PDFs that may be of help.

Did you back your ipad up to a computer or itunes?  I don’t trust the cloud, it is just a server somewhere in the world that can be affected by viruses, breakdowns etc.  I prefer to back up to my own computer, and for really important stuff an external drive and a USB.  Belt and braces.

Sometimes when there is an update in the iOS things go missing, I have had several of my note wiped out with an update, thankfully its synced with my phone, I can get them back, but I always also back everything up on my phone and ipad to my computer.
