Using a tablet with HorizonLink

Cheryl Paul

Hi Jim,

Is it possible to put Horizon Link on to the iPad? I think I read somewhere that Horizon Link could be used on a "tablet" and didn't know exactly what that meant.

Also, how many feet are there for the MC12000? I have purchased a few and my dealer is still waiting for a back order from before Christmas. She's not in a great hurry as she is renovating her store - so I can be patient as things will be much nicer when those renos are completed.

No, we will continue to produce DVDs. Because of the additional work needed to produce them, they will cost more than the apps. On the plus side, the video quality will be much higher than it can be on a wireless connection. The biggest problem with the DVDs has been Microsoft. Internet Explorer is way behind on support of video, and I have to provide conversions to their ancient WMV format just to make them viewable. That's why we continue to recommend the Safari or Chrome browser, both of which format the pages correctly.

The big problem with Android is Google. They keep changing it, and the phone manufacturers all create custom versions for their products, with different sized screens and varying features. To develop for iPhone, no matter which model, I know that screen controls like buttons will be in the same place. On Android I would have to have at least 3 or 4 phones and 2 or 3 tablets just to be able to test, and I would have to modify the app for each one as well. If I were selling Angry Birds, making millions, with a huge team of developers, it would be worth the effort. In our tiny market, with just me developing, it's not. I couldn't even afford to buy all the devices needed for testing, especially given that many of them will be obsolete within a year!

I have been looking for an excuse to get an iPad. Thanks for all you do for the group, it is appreciated. I Love the 12000 I wasn't real sure at Institute that I would but it is a great machine.

Re: USB

Jim_Stutsman <jim@...>

The driver for the 10000 is on the MBX DVD, as well as just about every Janome CD. However the DVD/CD MUST be in the computer when you connect the machine, or the driver will not be found. Repeat the process, but with the DVD in your computer when you connect. Put the cable in a different port.

Connection to the 12000 from MBX is done through Horizon Link, the software that came with your machine. The current version has a bug that does open Horizon Link when you try to connect. All you need to do is open Horizon Link first, then connect.

I was able to purchase from my dealer the border guide foot, accufeed ditch quilting foot, cording foot and the piping foot.  He has more but thats what I choose this month.  Some dealers seem to have many of the new feet while others don't have any yet.  I really need the luggage to put my machine in but that will have to wait.  Judy

Judy,  Can you tell us what four feet you purchased that are out?  I have no idea of what is out.  I seem to have to know this when I go to the dealer.

Re: Embroidery unit feet

There doesn't seem to be enough movement in those levelers to make a big difference. I would guess they are there for leveling the embroidery unit, which could be checked by placing a small level on the open embroidery arm.

I just turned my embroidery unit over and noticed 2 twirly things that I think may be leveling feet. Is it possible that for those of us who have those chattering hoops or the hoops that don't lay flat, raising these feet may be a solution!!? I don't think that Janome would have made it possible to raise them enough to hurt the connection. What do you think?
