Message about #997

deemgee1 <dar.dick@...>

Hello, everyone. I boobooed in trying to reply to a message about help, About, "VERSION WHATEVER IN HORIZON LINK".
I am a new member, just buying Horizon 12000 about three weeks ago and haven't used it yet. (too chicken) When I found this list on yahoo and discovered that Jim and Diane were moderators, I was estactic!!! Must learn now how to get their newsletter and to buy the Footwork DVD here in Canada..... (don't have an ipad, only an Acer tablet that I don't know how to use.) Have been lurking because I started at message #01 and am only at #993. Have a few hundred to go!!! Have learned a lot, because my dealer wasn't e of the updates for the 12000 or for Horizon Link. I'm computer illiterate and haven't felt competent yet to even use my 120000. So happy to have found this group. It gives me a great deal of hope! Looking forward to getting back to using the sewing/embroidery machine. :-) After reading about the updates have updated my machine to 1.01 and also Horizon Link - but cannot find "Help, About". Cannot find the "version" anywhere. You all sound so positive and so helpful, and I'm thankful I did the search thing on yahoo groups recently.

Re: Buttonholes

Jim_Stutsman <jim@...>

It looks like you have uneven fabric layers, which will create problems when using the B1 foot by itself. Fortunately they include the buttonhole slide plate with the 12000, and that should get you over the hump, so to speak. The finished buttonhole may not be identical to the scrap sample, due to differences in the fabric layers, but it will go all the way around as it should.

Hi - I'm struggling to stitch out some buttonholes on a pretty little dress that my mother-in-law has made for my great niece. It stitches out fine on a double piece of scrap calico using the automatic buttonhole B1, but as soon as I try to do in on the dress (cotton fabric) it won't stitch out the full buttonhole. It stitches straight down the left side then zigzags back to the beginning then either jumps halfway down the right side or only stitches one third of the way down before coming back towards the beginning. Can't figure out if I'm doing something wrong or if it's the machine. The material at this point is a bit thicker than 2 thicknesses because of seam allowances. Any suggestions? I've posted a picture in my folder showing what's happening.

Update

Anne <csarina43@...>

Travelled to my dealer with my machine, to my delight it behaved axactly as I said it would no matter what we did. We did find a sliver of thread at the side of the top tension point but nothing anywhere else, machine cleaned, bobbon area etc even tried a different bobbin.....just the same loopy. loopy, loopy.......you could see the thread looping as it was sewing......so it is on its way to the mechanic......both P and I are waiting for them to tell us once more, that we have threaded the machine wrong and there will be a two handed riot!!! Thankfully I have my little workshop machine and the over locker so I can finish what I am doing.

Re: question regarding space behind machine

Jim_Stutsman <jim@...>

You might have also seen it on your machine. As indicated on the decal at the left end of the embroidery unit, you need a minimum of 13" (33cm) behind the machine. The hoop will never travel beyond the end of the embroidery arm, so if the arm clears you are good.

Re: dongle on mbx

Jim_Stutsman <jim@...>

It's completely normal for the dongle to remain lit. While Digitizer MBX needs it to function, the dongle itself essentially becomes a component of your computer while plugged in. It will continue to stay lit until it's unplugged, and you can unplug it at any time that Digitizer is not running. No permission is needed.

I'm not aware of anyone offering an insurance policy, but Janome has replaced failed ones in the past at no cost.

hi,
I have noticed that the dongle's light stays on after the program is shut down. I have also gone to the safely remove option, as you would a flash drive, but the light doesnt go out.
How do I turn it off so i can remove it safely? I'm a bit paranoid because in the notes it says if it breaks you have to buy the whole thing again. Its says to insure it- i assume that just means in your home insurance policy.

Also, how do i load designs so they austomatically fit in the hoop without having to be rotated or moved?

My 12000

Anne <csarina43@...>

I got the email too.....

My machine will be on its way back to the dealer tomorrow, I have tension problem. I have done everything I can, changed the needle cleaned out the tension discs, cleaned out the bobbin area, re threaded the machine a dozen times and the tension is awful, the machine keeps stopping and telling me to re thread the machine when its alreasy threaded. This is the seoncond time the machine has had to go back...not a happy bunny.

Thank heavens I managed to finish the embroidery on the pillow cases I was doing....the rest of the sewing can be done on my little machine I use for workshops, and my overlocker.

Re: Question for Jim regarding new update

Jim_Stutsman <jim@...>

You won't have to pay, as others have noted. However you can get the bobbin sensor fixed right now if your dealer has the service kit. It's a very simple procedure, using special bobbins in the kit, and takes only a few minutes.

I myselft would be very upset if I had to pay for an update when the bobbin sensor system was not working correctly when the machine first came out. It is a waste of thread and no matter what you do is not working correctly. I understand the difference between update and upgrade. I have another TOS and I purchased it in 2008 and am still getting from updates which on 2 occasions have included new stitches. Don't get me wrong I love my 12000, however, please correct exsisting issues with the machine and don't make us wait for an update. Judy

The update is definitely free and right on schedule as far as promise goes. They are rolling out training this month and next month and allowing the dealers to install the update for their 12000 customers before it is posted on line. The part that is going to e a purchased item is the Accuquilt portion with features similar to the calculations that came with the professional quilting upgrade on the 11000. (The edge stitching foot for other manufacturers machines looks almost identical to our ditch quilting foot)

If it will be offered online in July, as promised in the email, then it will almost certainly be free. I think they will be changing the model from the 11000 updates, and offering the quilting hoop as a separate purchase instead of bundling it with the update.

Yes, I received it.. it is about GE financing and my dealer sent it to me as well.

When I asked him about 3 weeks ago if he heard anything on the update for our machines, he said he had heard nothing.  So now the update is early July-- I had heard end of June but judging by the edgestitch foot that was due out the end of March.... my dealer has not heard anything about that either...  so for the update hmm will it be September.

All he told me is that there has been a lot of job upheaval at Janome NJ and that they are saying that all of the change of command and losing people has set things back.

I got my email today. I work at the LQS on Friday and will follow up with the dealer than. She and two of the staff were in KC for the Quilt Festival there. One of the staffers took a Janome class on the 12000 and got to test out the new hoop and software referenced in the original email. I talked to her today for a few minutes and she will be doing a class in the near future and helping those of us who bought the 12000 update the software and become familiar with the new features.

Thanks for the information.  We’ve concluded that she needs to contact Janome to help with this issue.

In my case, the components of Corel essentials x5 never loaded with the initial installation. The Corel folder was there, but nothing was in it. Janome USA set up an appointment with Wilcom in Australia, and they remotely took control of my computer, and added the files.(They surmised that there was a hiccup with the Corel Suite x5 I already had on my computer.) works great now!
