I purchased a new 6500 just about 3 years ago, since it was an older model, it was available on the internet. I actually purchased a 6500 back in 2005, but traded it in when the 6600 came available,

Re: oldie but goodie???
Yes, you've caught me in a memory lie! The 6500P was the predecessor to the 6600, and was in fact the one with paint issues. I once had one come in for repair that had been thrown out of a pickup

Re: Trash question
The waterproofing products can usually be found any place that sells to campers/backpackers.
I’ve found that the trick to the most waterproof bags is to limit the number of seams in your bag.

Re: Trash question
I have used 1/4 “ plastic tubing like used for aquariums to hold the trash bag open. I broke off the head of a golf tee and used the pointed end to shove into the ends of the tubing to hold it

ThreadBook
Hi Jim,
I don’t know if it is on your radar for the ThreadBook update, but Superior appears to have discontinued their variegated Rainbows line of thread and replaced it with a new variegated line

That sounds like some models that were introduced shortly before we closed some 10 years ago. Here are some possibilities:

Re: sewing polyester
All of the answers you have been given are great. Yes to the wash away stabilizer, but you can also use a light tear away ON TOP where the double row of straight stitches form. The one suggestion

you can waterproof seams by using a product to waterproof tent seams. I have gotten the product from a marina, but can not remember the name of it now. They use it waterproof the seams on pontoon
