Re: Using a USB extension cord
Since we're discussing cables....could a USB "hub" be used to keep two embroidery machines constantly connected to the same computer?

Re: Tension
Janome has a fairly new needle with a purple tip
I find tension issues and skipped stitches have been corrected by simply changing to the purple tip needle

Re: Thread
Thank you for the advice. The design is a single run, open design. I’ll try the 40wt thread and top stitch needle.

Re: Using a USB extension cord
I tried that. the old cable won't go into the new one. Maybe it's just a faulty cable.

If all you want to do is plug a cable into your machine that you can then plug various thumb drives into without always plugging them into your machine, you need something like this:

Re: Thread
40wt should be fine. The topstitch 14 recommendation is probably related to the thickness of the quilt. The larger eye would also be less likely to fray the cotton thread.

Re: Using a USB extension cord
You didn't do anything wrong. Plug the NEW cable into your computer. Plug the OLD cable into the end of the new one. That will leave the correct end for plugging into the machine.

You didn't say, so I'm assuming that it has been working up until now. Try installing this update: https://www.janome.co.jp/e/e_downloads/digitizer_mbx_v45h.html
If the update is already installed,

Re: Tension
Try flossing out the tension. Fold a narrow strip of fabric in half. Lock the machine. Put the folded edge into the tension slot and floss it back and forth. Hopefully that will dislodge the debris
