I like Aurifil for piecing because I think it has less lint.
I like Madera for embroidery because of the sheen and all the colors.

i have been told by friends and by some dealers to never use any bobbins except Janome bobbins in my Janome 12000. Glad to see notes here opposite to that. What company do you Buy your prewound

As long as they are good quality, i.e. no burrs on the edges, no cracks, etc. they should be fine. Note that Class 15 bobbins are sometimes sold as type A.
