There is a great article in the recent edition of Popular Science (Mar 2015) about this issue. It seems that computer chips can very easily be pre-hacked! Not even your refrigerator is safe!

The other reason the design may not show up at the 12000 is because of thestitch count. If the design is over 100,000 stitches, the machine will notsee it.
